What’s up, THL? This is Mainge and I’m here alongside Cassity14, and MVParker. When we found out that THL AP would be unable to continue doing his/her weekly power rankings, we knew it would leave a hole in the THL week and we knew that we wanted to try to fill it. It’s going to be a tough task because, despite THL AP not possessing a spine and writing anonymously, he/she was very good at this. We are probably not good at this, at least when it comes to the writing aspects, so bare with us while we bring you Week 1 Power Rankings. 1.Team Rank 5 Team Rank 5 opened the season against newcomers in Team 1600 Dust and walked away with a 5-0 sweep, as JesusC and LoadedLux secured 3-0 sweeps. There’s not much else to write about besides this, as no one knows what to expect from 1600 Dust this season. Team Rank 5 will face off against Xnergy in Week 2 2. Entropy This isn’t your grandpa’s Entropy, as they faced off against Netherstorm in what was probably the most anticipated match of the week, as both teams were ranked high in the community power rankings. Entropy came away with a decisive 5-0 victory. Imbolc swept Season 3 MVP Cheesee10, while TheAnarchist swept the MVP runner up in Gemini. FeelsEntropyMan? Entropy will look to slay another giant in Aeon for week 2. 3. Aeon Aeon opened their Season 4 against Temporal Legends and came away with a hard fought win. RaginRhin0 won his league debut against everyone’s favorite class breakdown guy FezSama, whie Astei688 came on as a substitute for dotDark and secured an important 3-0 win over LochnessH. As mentioned above, Aeon has a strong test in Week 2 against Entropy. 4. Yogg Champs
The Yogg Champs matched up against Team Golden Wisp and won pretty handedly. Adidas5482 handled his business against AlecGW in the match for Captain Supremacy, while Lordforehead continued to build on his strong Season 3 with a sweep against DrewbixQube. In fact, the only thing stopping the Yogg Champs from a perfect 23-point week was the classic Malygos Eye for an Eye combination against Dunamis in game 5. 5. The Hairy Generals Our first loser from week one, The Hairy Generals lost a tough one against NWA. The top of the lineup is thought to be a strength of The Generals, but both Pokeher and Markshire lost tight ones against TonyMontana and Salt, respectively. The silver lining is that the bottom of the lineup performed well, especially with Dag Randolph winning against Drudded in his THL Debut. All eyes are on The Generals to see if they can bounce back against the Yogg Champs 6. NWA Getting #1 fuels them and the fire is burning hot as NWA opened Season 4: Celebration with a big win against the aforementioned Hairy Generals. TonyMontana had an incredible season 3 to begin his THL career, but moving up to the 1-seed is a big test for anyone not proven in that spot, and Tony stepped up with a week 1 victory over Pokeher. Craeon also took care of business with a 3-0 sweep against the unretired JediNinja. If Tony and Craeon can prove their worth in their new respective seeds, NWA will continue to rise. 7. Defias Brotherhood The first appearance of any new team, Defias Brotherhood took home a big win against Xnergy in their Week 1 matchup. Captain c0mp (sorry, we just really wanted to say Captain c0mp) fell against Zab, but everyone else on Defias took home wins, including the BoomBoomHall Aroy package deal. Next week is an interesting challenge for c0mp & Crew, as they take on Season 3 finalist Team Avatar 8. Team Avatar Speaking of Season 3 finalist Team Avatar, here they are after being upset by The Damaged Ones in their season opener. Gnetz continues his THL success with a nice victory over Hearthstone Summer Preliminary participant Houdini, while new signee Brunson memed victorious over DirestBear. The series came down to PumbaasBFF and Bytes who put on one of the most unconventional and entertaining matches in recent memory. Avatar will look to get on track against Defias next week. 9. Danger Zone Kenny Loggins called and told Noob Central that they’re in the Danger Zone, as Danger Zone upset highly ranked Noob Central. Vendi had a big win over newcomer Thorsmash, while Gideoneko literally knocked Kuthroat into retirement with a 3-0 sweep. Grim managed to closeout the series on Salty Saturday against Ham. They’ll have to go one more week without their prized signing as Jingbuddha is still away, but it might be time to stop sleeping on Danger Zone. 10. Noob Central As mentioned above, Noob Central had a rough first week of the regular season, losing a tight one to Danger Zone. The brightside is that they still have RayC and he’s surrounded by a pretty good roster. As announced a few days ago, Kuthroat will be dropping from the team to focus on his Quiplash career, leaving team Captain Nade to step into his place. They have a chance to put last week behind them with a strong showing against Team 1600 Dust this week. 11. Netherstorm Speaking of rough weeks, Netherstorm would probably like to forget their season opener against Entropy, as they only managed to secure 4 points and three different players were swept. Netherstorm faces a tough test against NWA in week 2. 12. The Damaged Ones The Damaged Ones faced off against Team Avatar and walked away with an upset. We mentioned earlier that Bytes won a barn burner on stream against Pumbaas, but we didn’t mention that Gkick won against reigning Captain of the Season THLeumer 3-2, while Krakshot gunned down Zagber in his THL debut. The Damaged Ones can keep climbing with a victory over Danger Zone this week 13. Team Golden Wisp Team Golden Wisp is entering their 3rd season of THL play and they have a bit of a new look to them, having added Sunshine midway through last season and Vicious Syndicate Priest Expert wwlos this offseason. Unfortunately only wwlos was able to secure a win this week, with the aforementioned Malygos Eye for an Eye victory over Dunamis. They take on The Temporal Legends this week. 14. Xnergy With Season 4 starting, Xnergy has an almost completely new roster as only Redmarsh returned from Season 3. Week 1 didn’t go great for them, however, as only Zab could secure a victory. Week two won’t get any easier for them, as they match up against Team Rank 5. 15. Temporal Legends New team Temporal Legends debuted against Aeon and put up a pretty good fight as HectorHowl, Captain of Temporal Legends, won against Gallon213 to move to 5-0 inside of THL play. 5-seed Phoebus also secured a win against MissingShoelaces. While Hector is 5-0 as a player, he is now 0-1 as a captain and he and the rest of Temporal legends have an uphill battle to climb against The Golden Wisps. 16. Team 1600 Dust Rounding out this weeks power rankings is Team 1600 Dust, as they made their debut against Team Rank 5. The bad news is that they only scored 3 points, which is tied for the lowest total for a team that had zero DQ’s. The good news is that they have some talented players, a strong team environment, and there’s nowhere to go from here but up. Team 1600 Dust plays against Noob Central this week. We hope you guys enjoyed reading this as much as we enjoyed putting it together. I’d like to give a quick thank you to Chase Parker for helping us put this together. We look forward to debating our list in the comments ;)
