1 Seed: Misadventure
2 Seed: Nate
3 Seed: Shunsui21
4 Seed: Ozmanaut
5 Seed: MrMandingo
Runner up: Dirty Mike & The Boys
1 Seed: ericokey
2 Seed: Sirlos
3 Seed: lefty2111
4 Seed: durtymike
5 Seed: Cody
Big Game Hunter
Winner: TokuNJT beat JoeHS (198 pr vs 446 pr)
Runner up: None
We had many notable cases of people punching above their weight this season, but there is no better story than TokuNJT, the permanent sixth man, perennial substitute, Lauren Conrad GIF hoarder, and all around hype man. Toku subbed into the two seed for Zerotio and promptly beat league veteran Joe with a near-250 point PR deficit.
MVP
Winner: Sirlos (7-1, 75% win rate)
Runner up: RogueJT (7-1, 63% win rate)
Runner up: Seohyun (7-0, 81% win rate) only lost 5 games all season. Did have multiple DQs 2 of them, was a seed lower than his skill level
Sirlos has been a consistent player for two seasons in a row of THL and this season was his best yet. He lost week 1, decided he didn’t like losing, and won the rest of the season, further cementing DMB as a top notch playoff contender in part due to his contributions. He won 75% of his games, which is frankly just absurd.
RogueJT proved that the Hombres were more than just a good meme and spent his time between Hero League games absolutely crushing the 5 seed. Winning 63% of his games and only dropping one match on the season, Rogue continued his exceptional run in THL. Now if only he could stop feeding bottom lane…
It deserves noting that Seohyun had a phenomenal season when he made it to his matches and only dropped 5 games the entire season with an 81% winrate. However, we calculated DQ losses as match losses, and as such he dropped out of the running for MVP.
Best New Team
Winner:Texas Stubbies
Runner up: Thermic Whims
C’mon now. One team won the championship and another team rocked their way to a semis performance.
Top Captain
Winner: Switters
Runner up: Ericokey
Switters brought a brand new team with 5 brand new players into THL and brought them all the way to the semifinals - and along the way, he had ZERO DQs for the entire season despite needing a substitute on his team the first two weeks of playing! His involvement with the community was immediately successful and the team culture seemed very strong judging from player feedback.
Speaking of team culture, Ericokey has a lot of it with the boys and with Dirty Mike himself - oh, and by the way, he referred MrMandingo to the league, who brought a team in this season called the Texas Stubbies. To bring his own team to the finals twice and bring in so many players along the way while also curtailing DQs deserves a round of applause.
Rookie of the Season
Winner: Seohyun (7-2, 81% win rate)
Runner up: Stephieeeee (1 seed, 7-2, 60% win rate)
We talked about Seohyun already, but holy cow did he have a good season - one of the best THL has ever seen with only 5 games dropped in 7 played matches.
Stephieeeee (I hope that’s the right number of e’s) did great in her first season in THL as the 1 seed on Philly Hearth - she was a remarkably consistent player and pulled off a great winrate at the top of her team. Props!
Comeback Player
Winner: Twizz was 3-6 last season and finished this season 5-4
Runner up: Tomlocke was 3-5 last season and finished this season 5-4
Comeback player award goes to the player that improved the most from the last season to this one. Both of these players struggled to find their footing last season and both managed to bat above 50% this time around.
RolePlayer
Winner: JRJuggernaut went from 3 seed-1 seed
Winner: Yellowdart went from 3 seed-1 seed
Winner: Earl went from 3 seed-1 seed
Runner up: Dirtymike played in 4-2
All three of JrJuggernaut, Yellowdart and Earl has incredible seasons. These three carried their team all climbed from the 3 seed all the way to the 1 seed by the end of the season. Honourable mention goes to Dirtymike who also climbed up three seeds from the 4 seed to the 2 seed.
