THL Power Rankings: S8/5, Week 7!

2/21/2018

Picture
Every week, we will be bringing you a new, updated version of the Power Rankings, encompassing both Ragnaros and Sylvanas Leagues. Every Wednesday evening, watch this space for Ragnaros League rankings provided by Ericokey and a mystery anonymous contributor, and MojoPowell and YellowDart's Sylvanas League rankings! If you don't fancy the read, then the rankings will also be discussed every Thursday evening on Tavern Talk, 9PM at twitch.tv/teamhearthleague. Really, you have no excuse to not know what everyone thinks of your team! Overall standings are decided by a mixture of both author's individual rankings, as well as a healthy helping of good old fashioned data, provided by Starlax. What's more, we asked you, the THL community, to weigh in with your own rankings: CR denotes the average Community Ranking, while PR denotes Previous Ranking. Read on!

Ragnaros League: Week 7

1 Thermic Whims (CR 1; PR 1)
Thermic Whims win again, the victim of the week this week was Dirty Mike and the Boys. The only thing this team has to worry about is the pressure of going undefeated all the way to a championship.
Player to Watch: Diplomacy
Will Rebound: Brewski
-Ericokey
2 Spicey Boys (CR 5; PR 2)
In what could be a glimpse into the playoffs, Spicey Boys take down the red hot ATL squad. Wolfmack keeps doing his thing, winning in the 1-seed by a 3-1 score this week. Cakes keeps rolling, too, w/ a sweep in the 5-spot.
Player to Watch: Cakes
Will Rebound: IronFIRE
-Anonymous
3 Always Topdeck Lethal (CR 6; PR 3)
Although ATL did lose this week, they still control their own destiny and still sit at the top of the Gold division. RKeysar and BlakeHall both took their matches, so ATL still took double digit points this week. If they can do what’s needed vs the Noobs this week, it takes an immense amount of pressure off ATL to win in Week 9 vs Swagoi.
Player to Watch: BlakeHall
Will Rebound: DZB
-Anonymous
4 Hearthstone Academy (CR 2; PR 4)
Hearthstone Academy takes an L this week in a series they took a quick two match lead in. They will look to shake this off and not let it plague the back end of their season as they try to make playoffs…
Player to Watch: Memyselfandi
Will Rebound: Bluesombrero
-Ericokey
5 Team Next Level (CR 4; PR 7)
Team Next Level wins big this week against Xnergy, which puts them barely into a wildcard spot. They will need to stay vigilant in these last two weeks though if they plan to keep that spot.
Player to Watch: ApexPredador
Will Rebound: Jammies
-Ericokey
6 Thundergun Express (CR 3; PR 6)
Thundergun Express continues their march to the playoffs, but they still will need to keep it up; one misstep and any of the multiple teams right on their heels could take their place.
Player to Watch: Misadventure
Will Rebound: Nate
-Ericokey
7 Team Swagoi (CR 8; PR 5)
Swagoi did what they needed to do last week, which was crush a bottom dwelling team and get themselves back into the playoff seeding. They’re firmly in control of their own destiny, w/ an 11 point lead over the 4-seed at this point.
Player to Watch: Anamor
Will Rebound: Brasky
-Anonymous
8 Bloodbath & Beyond (CR 11; PR 8)
Their weeks of scrapping double digit losses have paid off tremendously for BB&B, as their massive victory over Mox this past week has put them riding shotgun for a playoff spot. Yet, it won’t be easy, at all. Week 8 has them vs Swagoi, and they finish the season playing the suddenly smoking hot Pod People. Hang onto your hats, folks. That matchup could mean everything.
Player to Watch: YellowDart
Will Rebound: Starlax
-Anonymous
9 Really Nice Guys (CR 7; PR 11)
Really Nice Guys win in a big way this week, to throw them right up near the front of the playoff race. They will look to repeat this performance in the upcoming week.
Player to Watch: AndyRogers
Will Rebound: Kr0ozin
-Ericokey
10 The Pod People (CR 14; PR 15)
The Pod People continue their string of playing spoiler this week, and by crushing Swagoi 18-10 they’ve firmly planted themselves in the playoff conversation. Hat is the only seed to go down on their side, but losing to Earl is never a thing to hang your head about. Mojopowell keeps his recent successes going, and all of a sudden the Podsters are the hottest team in the conference.
Player to Watch: Mojopowell
Will Rebound: Hat
-Anonymous
11 Dirty Mike and the Boys (CR 9; PR 12
Dirty Mike and the Boys lose again this week. Playoff hopes appear to have faded away unless a miracle happens in the last two weeks.
Player to Watch: TonyMontana
Will rebound: Cody
-Ericokey
12) Prep Coin Concede (CR 10; PR 10)
Move along. Nothing to see here.
-Anonymous
13 Defias Brotherhood (CR 17; PR 17)
The Brotherhood shall prevail, and I am a believer. Defias Brotherhood has been a whole new team ever since they picked up S3NP4I. I see this trend continuing into a playoff spot.
Player to Watch: Nickolias
Will Rebound: Twizz
-Ericokey
14 Texas Stubbies (CR 13; PR 13)
The Stubbies take another loss this week, and their playoff hopes go with it most likely. Barring a miracle they will be sitting this playoffs out.
Player to Watch: BloodHunter
Will Rebound: Sirlos
-Ericokey
15 Project Mayhem (CR 12; PR 9)
Nothing to see here, either. Not at all.
-Anonymous
16 Team Xnergy (CR 16; PR 16)
Xnergy lost this week to Team Next Level. This put them at the back of the playoff race with very little time to go. They will need more than a little help to make it now.
Player to Watch: Jrjuggernaut
Will Rebound: BoomBoomHall
-Ericokey
17 Team Mox (CR 15; PR 14)
Mox takes their second loss to a probable playoff team in a two week span, this time losing 18-6 to BB&B and more than likely eliminating themselves from playoff contention. Bonja was the sole winner from the Mox side this week, taking his match in the 1-seed.
Player to Watch: Bonja
Will Rebound: Force of Will
-Anonymous
18 Maple Syrup Inc. (CR 18; PR 18)
Maple Syrup Inc. lost this week but still put up 9 points. Now, there are still 2 weeks left and they are only 1 point ahead of last place. Now I believe if they really put some effort in that they can claim that last place spot but it will be a hard fought battle for sure.
Player to Watch: Saku
Will Rebound: Saku
-Ericokey
19 Bad Hombres (CR 20; PR 20)
The Hombres won. Let’s not even care who it was against. The Hombres are no longer last in the league in points. And, no surprise either in that TheAnarchist won again. He didn’t play the whole season, but who cares. That guy deserves an all-star spot for carrying the Hombres from the 20th best team to the 18th best team in the league. He’s the Mike Trout of Rag League.
Player to Watch: TheAnarchist
Will Rebound: Dunamis
-Anonymous
20 Noob Central (CR 19; PR 19)
They were sooooo close to putting together back to back wins, which we in the majors call a “win streak.” But, I guess the Noobs decided to pay it forward, and after getting their first win they granted the Hombres theirs.
Player to Watch: Stephieee
Will Rebound: Ham
-Anonymous

Sylvanas League: Week 7

1 Team Next Level (CR 2; PR 2)
Team Next Level finishes the season strong, with more points than any other team in Sylvanas League. Their season finish consisted of a win, keeping the Big Deck Bandits out of a playoff spot. This win came from three sweeps from the middle seeds, Donde, Jammies, and Altenberg. Team Next Level will look to continue their dominance in week one of the playoffs against Gold division winners Tan Pam’s Surf Slam.
Player to Watch: Donde
Will Rebound: CARY
-MojoPowell
2 Booty Sweat (CR 1; PR 1)
In a surprising turn of events, Booty Sweat falls to Tan Pam’s Surf Slam, but still ends the season with enough points to take the second wildcard spot in the Purple-Gold division. One and five seeds Ericokey and TheAnarchist bring home 3-1 wins, while the rest of the team all receive slammings from the middle seeds of Tan Pam. Also surprisingly, 3/5ths of the team brought Hunter, while only Ericokey managed to win with it. Their first round playoff opponents will be the Thiccbois, who tied them in overall points.
Player to Watch: TheAnarchist
Will Rebound: Cody
-MojoPowell
3 DadLegend (CR 3; PR 3)
DadLegend had a stinker this week as they fall 10-17 to Toliwag, but they do clinch the Blue Division title in their second season in the league, barely holding off Fearless Hearth. Rizen finishes off another solid season by picking up the only win this week while Wowdotben and YellowDart both put up 2 points in a loss. They were obviously saving up good RNG for playoffs as they’ll definitely need a bounce back week taking on a red hot Xnergy team in the playoffs.
Player to Watch: Rizen
Will Rebound: Junksterr
-YellowDart
4 Thiccbois (CR 6; PR 4)
The Thiccbois have officially qualified for the Season 5 playoffs with a very close match against Team Black Lotus. xEmissary, BobbyGibbs, and RedditGoat all pick up 3-2 wins, with earl and Machina winning 2 games. Overall, it doesn’t matter how much they won by, because they end up winning a playoff spot, tying Booty Sweat with 113 points. Next week they will face off against the team they tied, Booty Sweat in round one of the playoffs.
Player to Watch: BobbyGibbs
Will Rebound: earl
-MojoPowell
5 Tam Pam’s Surf Slam (CR 5; PR 7)
Tan Pam’s Surf Slam cleans up the gold division with a close win over Booty Sweat. Lefty211 and Nate both grab 3-1 victories over solid opponents, squeezing in just enough points to win the week and clinch a playoff spot for Gold. Their season has had its ups and downs, but they can be proud of the fact that they are finding success here in Sylvanas League, and prepare for a tough match against Team Next Level in the first round of playoffs.
Player to Watch: Lefty211
Will Rebound: DurtyMike
-MojoPowell
6 Toliwag’s Disciples (CR 9; PR 8)
Toliwag heads into the playoffs in style taking down DadLegend 17-10 this week as they clinch the Red Division title in the process. Switters continues to lead the way and completes a perfect 7-0 regular season across multiple seeds. Bonja, Thatjester, and Darkseid pick up wins as well, and Toliwag carries a lot of momentum into their playoff matchup with Fearless Hearth in what looks to be an exciting matchup between two new teams that have done very well in their first season.
Player to Watch: Switters
Will Rebound: Jimphilos
-YellowDart
7 Big Deck Bandits (CR 3; PR 5)
The sad story of the Gold Division, the Big Deck Bandits lose to the toughest team in the league, Team Next Level, and fall just 6 points short of a playoff spot. It was a really close race between the Bandits and Tan Pam, but sadly one of them had to lose. Strong performances by Stephieee and DocMcButt couldn’t carry the rest of the team to victory, with the other three members getting swept. The Bandits had a great season, and should look to come back even stronger next season!
Player to Watch: DocMcButt (literally, he streams!)
Will Rebound: Good Luck Next Season
-MojoPowell
8 The Fearless Hearth (CR 7; PR 6)
The Fearless Hearth couldn’t take advantage of a DadLegend loss to take the Blue Division but do just enough to clinch a Wild Card spot, losing to Xnergy 11-15. Kuthroat and Kazootaroot deliver the W’s while Chiggmo in the 2 seed picks up a couple points himself. An impressive season for a new team continues into the playoffs against Red Division winners Toliwag’s Disciples.
Player to Watch: Kuthroat
Will Rebound: Fancy19
-YellowDart
9 Xnergy (CR 10; PR 10)
The X is officially on fire and has completed another late season hot streak to make the playoffs, this time jumping Tinyfin by a single point to clinch the last spot. They did it on the back of a clutch victory against a strong Fearless Hearth team, and continue to see their 1 and 2 (Wolfmack and Starlax) putting up an insane win rate going 30-7 over the past 5 weeks. SwankyTiger brings home the 3rd victory this week and we’ve got a Xnergy vs DadLegend showdown to look forward to in the playoffs.
Player to Watch: Wolfmack & Starlax
Will Rebound: I personally hope (with 0 bias) that there are no rebounds next week.
-YellowDart
10 Tinyfin Fan Club (CR 8; PR 9)
Tinyfin falls just short vs Xplosive Sheep this week (13-14) but more importantly falls just short of the playoffs as well. They actually fall all the way to last place in the Blue Division, but were only 1 point short of the playoffs. ArcaneTHL and Jaspyr did what they could by winning their matches but the rest of the team just couldn’t get over the hump to clinch those last couple points.
Player to Watch: Anamor, still only player on the team w/ winning record
Will Rebound: Good Luck Next Season
-YellowDart
11 Team Black Lotus (CR 11; PR 11)
Team Black Lotus falls just short of a victory against the Thiccbois this week, losing 14-16. Admirable performances by Bunnyman1400 and Cyclometh kept them afloat, but overall it was not enough to solidify a playoff spot, even had they won this week. A respectable season from the players of Black Lotus is something to be proud of, and they came within a couple wins of a playoff spot, so perhaps next season they’ll come back with a vengeance.
Player to Watch: Cyclometh
Will Rebound: Good Luck Next Season
-MojoPowell
12 Hero Power Rangers (CR 13; PR 12)
The Rangers lost a close one to the Boars this week 12-14, and finish the season on 89 points which was a tie for 2nd in the Red Division. Unfortunately this wasn’t quite good enough for the playoffs so their respectable first season comes to an end. Inkd pulls a third straight sweep while Shrunk also gets a win in the 5 seed. For the first time in a while they did not do any seed trading for the next match so they’ll start next season the way they finished this one if they don’t make any personnel changes.
Player to Watch: Inkd
Will Rebound: Good Luck Next Season
-YellowDart
13 Xplosive Sheep (CR 14; PR 13)
The Sheep play their role as spoiler incredibly effectively this week, knocking out the defending champs Tinyfin Fan Club 14-13. MojoPowell played Big Game Hunter and won as a 166 PR underdog to highlight the week, while mattyebs and BitBeaker get it done as well. While they won’t make the playoffs this season they can take comfort in finishing on a high note.
Player to Watch: MojoPowell
Will Rebound: Good Luck Next Season
-YellowDart
14 Boars 65,340,285 (CR 12; PR 14)
The Boars rebounded nicely after getting stomped the week before; they take out Hero Power Rangers 14-12. KombatWombat, Cinder, and Rebobson lock down the 2-4 matchups to get the win. Rebobson finishes as their lone player with a winning record. And while they finished last in the Red Division they take solace in the fact that it was only 2 points out from a tie for 2nd.
Player to Watch: Rebobson
Will Rebound: Good Luck Next Season
-YellowDart
15 Team TRYHARD (CR 15; PR 15)
Team TRYHARD goes out with a bang, tying their final match against Team HearthCoach. As much as I made fun of the warrior picks last week, they persisted with their interesting pick strategy, and two of the three members bringing warrior actually won their matches! Also, everyone who brought Shaman won...coincidence? I think not. No matter how their final record was, Team TRYHARD was one of the most fun teams to watch all season, and I sincerely hope to see them again.
Player to Watch: Nade
Will Rebound: Good Luck Next Season
-MojoPowell
16 Team HearthCoach (CR 16; PR 16)
While not quite technically a win, Team HearthCoach ends the season on a relative high note, tying 13-13 with Team TRYHARD. HearthCoach only actually won 2 matches in this series, but managed to perform well enough in the rest of their matches to warrant a tie in the end. Team HearthCoach may not have had the best season performance ever, but we hope to see them as a returning team of now league veterans ready to crush skulls next season.
Player to Watch: ForrestBates
Will Rebound: Good Luck Next Season
