THL March Madness 2022

THL March Madness is back!

If you're a fan of NCAA College Basketball or if you were a member of THL 2 years ago then you'll know the format already.  It's a 64 player tournament, single elimination until the winner is crowned.  Upsets will happen, hearts will break and Cinderella runs will captivate viewers from all over the world but mostly within THL.

Unlike most of our other tournaments, this one is an invite only affair which is why it has to be announced now.  Your performance over the Legacy, Hero, Pro and Wild seasons will dictate whether or not you make it to the dance.  There is no entry fee, and there will be prizes!  Just play your THL matches and play them well and you can be crowned THL March Madness champion.  Here's how it works:

The tourney is Bo5 standard conquest with 1 ban, just like our Pro series.  The lists are open because your lineup is locked in for the duration of the entire tourney so choose your decks wisely.

64 players will be invited and seeded (more on that in a moment).  There will be a rolling 3 day hard cap on rounds.  What that means is that you have 3 days to play each round of the tournament BUT you're welcome to play your next match as soon as it is available.  You don't have to wait for everyone in round 1 to be finished if you and your opponent have already advanced to round 2 and are ready to play.  Since this is a content driven tournament we would like to get as many matches on stream as possible.  Every match you play on stream you will be entered into a raffle for pack prizes!

But let's not get ahead of ourselves.  Who is going to be invited to this tournament?  There are a few ways:

• All players on the four championship teams earn an automatic invite (up to 20, pending overlap between series)
  
• All star/All pro/All Wild players also earn an invite (up to 40, again pending overlap between series and the championship teams)
  
• Big Game Hunters from Legacy and Hero (up to 2)
  
• 5 Players who appeared the most on stream during the season (not among the above categories)
  
• Maniac Monday winners will not receive an automatic invite but it will be in consideration for seeding/players who did not receive an automatic invite so participation is highly encouraged
  

Top end, this is 67 invites and obviously over the limit.  Realistically with overlap it’ll probably be 35-45.  

The remaining bracket will be filled out via selection committee based on performance across all series (Outstanding performance in a single or two series will be considered).
Once all 64 players are selected, the selection committee will also seed all players 1-64. The top 4 players will all be 1 seeds in each quadrant of the bracket, players 5-8 will be the 2 seeds and so forth.

We'll also hold a bracket challenge for prizes.  You fill out who you think will win each round and you get points for every match you guess correctly.  The person who gets the most points will win!  I promised 2 years ago on stream that if anyone guesses EVERY match correctly I'll buy your next expansion (the large pack pre-order).  I stand by this.  There is no entry fee to fill out a bracket and you don't have to be participating in the tournament to play.
