Team Hearth Legends’s Legacy Series (or THL in previous iterations) has been in operation for ten seasons, spanning three years; 316 players have registered and played matches over the course of that time. Many have come and gone, some have come and never gone, but ten individuals have come and stood tall over all others: this is the THL Hall of Fame. The following process and criteria was used to identify HoF Inductees: To be considered eligible, one must have participated for at least 5 seasons in Ragnaros League as either a player, a captain, or a consistent contributor to League operations or content. A selection committee of 8 prominent league members was formed, comprising: Nade, TheAnarchist, RidiculousHat, Sage, JediNinja, Cassity14, GoldenWispAlec, and Twizz, and the community as a whole submitted nominations to be considered. Guidelines for selection include but are not limited to:
Bearing that in mind, the time has come to present to you our inaugural 10 Inductees:
Players: JesusC: Jesus is the epitome of the THL everyman in every aspect except one: his results, which far exceed his peers. Jesus is a consummate student of the game’s competitive aspect, with his first season being a launching pad for a career that included 4 seasons above a 70% winrate, only a single losing season, and consistent progression as a player with reliably strong performance in his seed. His record Season 2 ensured a young Team Rank 5’s entry to the playoffs and earned him an MVP award, which he was able to convert in Season 4 into a championship with the single most dominant team performance in THL’s history. There’s so much more to Jesus than the numbers indicate, with his team members consistently speaking highly of his character and team presence (and his captain was the best man at his wedding!), but his stats alone are enough to earn him entry into the HoF. -RidiculousHat Markshire: If you don’t know Markshire, you must be living under a rock. Markshire currently has the most wins of any player not named Slimsch in THL history, and that’s in two fewer seasons: his win-rate is exceptional despite playing in a variety of seeds. We’d say he shows consistent growth as a player, but he went undefeated his first full season so growth may not be the right word here: quite simply, he came into the League as an All-Star and has stayed there ever since. However, it’s not just about ability with Markshire, it’s about his team involvement, his community presence, and his League contributions. Markshire took full ownership of the Director of Content and Engagement position under the new THL Inc. Board structure and worked tirelessly to ensure top quality shows, caster and producer engagement, and regularly executed tournaments. This was in addition to his own contributions to content on the card review streams, as a blog author, and contributing to Friday Night Fights and Salty Saturday. We’re not really sure what he hasn’t done for the League, to be honest! -RidiculousHat MVParker: Parker is a THL presence like none other, both on the Ladder, in Discord, and involved with League content. Parker and Jesus have nearly the same record in the same amount of time on the Team Rank 5 dynasty, and Parker has exactly one season on the books below a 50% win-rate; that’s while playing every class in the game nearly every season, regardless of the meta. His one stint as Captain earned him and his squad Best New Team, which is no small feat in and of itself. Beyond his in-game abilities, he’s been a prominent voice in the community for a long time; originally involved with THL in 60 Seconds and evolving into a fixture on Tavern Talk, one of the minds behind the THL Power Rankings, and a core member of the THL Discord. Quite simply, Parker was one of the defining members of THL’s burgeoning community during his involvement with the League and he was a damn good player while he was doing so. -RidiculousHat Slimsch: Slimsch is the single most accomplished player in the League’s history, period. Having played nine seasons and 67 matches he’s earned himself a 68.66% win rate. His preparation, execution, and results have been matched by no one, and he conducts himself as one of the most humble players with the utmost sportsmanship. His accomplishments alone are enough to enshrine him into our Hall of Fame, but let it not be forgotten that Slimsch has also given much more than his talents as a player. Over the years Slimsch has contributed to the growth and success of the League while serving as a Board member and later on as Commissioner. Additionally, he’s been one of our all-time favorite personalities on Salty Saturday, Tavern Talk, and many other League productions. He has long been the face of THL, and we will forever remember his unsurpassed excellence. -Nade Captains: Mainge: The man. The myth. The legend. The Subreddit. There is exactly one captain on this list, and that’s the most successful captain in THL’s history; he’s the only eligible captain with an over 60% win-rate, and that’s with almost 300 matches. That number includes the single best season any THL team has ever had, and anyone who played against Team Rank 5 in season 4 will tell you how terrifying that team was: a 77.55% winrate in a season is beyond insane. While he was no slouch as a player, if you know Mainge beyond Team Rank 5, you will probably know him for his incredibly prolific and vital League contributions. You might be thinking of his role on Tavern Talk, or maybe you’re thinking of him as part of the THL Power Rankings. Maybe you’re thinking of late nights on Discord hanging out with the squad and playing HotS. You might be remembering him as a prominent voice of the Board and a face of the League, on the Facebook group or on streams. You may remember his casting or maybe you remember him creating one of the best THL memes in history as the recipient of a low-roller against a ⅛ Ragnaros shot. But most importantly, you should probably take notice that 3 of the 4 players being inducted have played on Mainge’s teams: this is a great person that elevates the greatness of others. -RidiculousHat Contributors: Cassity14: Cassity has long been a king of content for THL, lending his many talents to a variety of productions that have kept players informed while bringing the community together. Some of the many mantles he has taken include: Co-Host of Tavern Talk for 4 seasons, Board member for 4 seasons, Salty Saturday Caster for 2 seasons, Author and Co-Host of THL Team Power Rankings, Blog Author (Salty Storylines, the BibleThump Novella, Beyond the Mana Crystal), as well as contributing to the legendary THL in 60 Seconds. Cassity has always had a hand in making sure that our players, captains, and teams were recognized and acknowledged for their efforts, while having a talent for telling their stories in an entertaining fashion. His contributions to League operations and administration have always kept the best interest of players in mind and have paved the way for an enhanced member experience. Cassity has been the unofficial author of our League’s history books, and his storylines have brought wonderful meaning and legacy to those who’ve spent their time with us over the years. -Nade Jaxox: Jaxox’s length and range of service to the League has been an invaluable asset to the success of our unique community. In the past ten seasons he has been a captain, a player, a Board member, and our favorite story teller. His leadership positions have helped captain this ship but his role as creator, producer, and host of Tavern Talk has been one of the single most significant contributions the League has received to date. Coupled with his creation of the League Discord, Jaxox has built the foundation for a fun and engaging environment that’s worth being a part of. His ideas have greatly expanded our culture and our identity, and his talent to bring the community together has been second to none. We are equally fortunate as we are honored to have been gifted with Jaxox’s service and innovation. -Nade JediNinja: It’s Jedi: in case you didn’t know, he founded THL. But wait, there’s more; he’s played almost 60 matches himself and has an over 50% win-rate. But wait, there’s still more; he has captained over THREE HUNDRED matches and has an over 55% win-rate across those! Not to mention, he is incredibly active on the Facebook group, has a history of incredible involvement in League productions, singlehandedly ran the back end for years, and straight up defined the THL environment and community. THL would literally not be here today if it weren’t for him. -RidiculousHat Nade: Nade is a personality. Beyond any shadow of a doubt, we know that much to be true. There’s a reason he deserved ‘Loudest Player’ in Season 4 and there’s also a reason that he’s been involved with so many community contributions. Since Season Beta, he has contributed graphic designs, been involved with After The Salt Settles, captained a team, posted non-stop on the Facebook, and written various blog articles as well. But beyond that, his claim to fame is his executive and managerial experience and involvement with THL. In Season 5, the League was faced with the herculean task of rebuilding the Board from the ground up when many members had to take a step back. Not only did he create the structure, but he situated the League to enter the modern era through involvement, training, and incredible effort, and he continues to be heavily involved to this day. He is the unsung hero of THL operations, a consummate relationship builder, and a cornerstone to the League’s continued success. -RidiculousHat Necrohavoc: Necrohavoc’s early contributions as a Board member and graphic designer during THL’s first seven seasons have had a significant impact on how the League operates today. After joining the Board in Season Alpha he became JediNinja’s right-hand man and helped assemble many of the key components of our foundation. He also started the Facebook group, and the impact of that for the social aspect of the League cannot be overstated; you could say he is the founder of our community. Themed seasons and Championship posters are his creations, and the breadth of high caliber graphics he produced gave the League a much needed image and level of quality. The League is forever grateful for Necrohavoc’s time and talents as they have been vital to the League’s infrastructure, community, and identity. -Nade Thank you for reading all the way to the end, you the real MVP!
