Texas Stubbies - Team Profile

Hello THL. Welcome to the first installment of what will be a new feature to the blog - Team Profiles. First up will be a team with a notoriously-named manager, and an already notorious reputation after coming out of the gates on fire in Week 1 with a 15-13 victory over the veteran squad of Netherstorm.
 
As mentioned, the Texas Stubbies are a rookie squad with not a single THL veteran on their roster. MrMandingo heads them up as captain, and comes into Season 7 with only 2 matches previously played as a substitute. In what will be a minor theme this season, Mandingo didn’t find his teammates via the free agent megathread or last season’s roster sheet… they’re all real life friends. That’s right. Real. Life. Like, in person outside of the home. They had applied as free agents in Season 6 but had no luck; Mandingo stepped up and applied for a captain’s spot to create a home for them all. And so, The Texas Stubbies arose… How does Mandingo feel about the team’s prospects for this first season? “We’re going to win. Undoubtedly.”

What’s your THL history? - I'm a Babbling Rook

How did they find THL? - Through The Dojo, located in Evans, GA

How long have they been playing Hearthstone? - I've been marching since March

What do they love best about THL? - The serious competition, I live for anxiety

Favourite THL person not on their team? - Stephieeeeeeeeeeeee

Favourite band/song/music to jam to while playing Hearthstone? - Orchestral Manoeuveres in the Dark or silence because concentration is key

Texas Stubbies - Misadventure


What’s your THL history? This is my first season as a regular member for a team, but I did sub last year for two matches. 

How did they find THL? We’re all friends of Dirty Mike & the Boys. 

How long have they been playing Hearthstone? Whenever c’thun c’thun c’thun was introduced. 

What do they love best about THL? The struggle the streamers have to avoid calling me a “he.” (Editor’s note: Yes, Durden sucks.)

Favourite THL person not on their team? I’m partial to DurtyMike. 

Favourite band/song/music to jam to while playing Hearthstone? 90s pop

If they weren’t on their current team, what team would they like to be playing for? I’m with Taurean [Shunsui] …stubbie for life!

What’s your THL history?  I don't have one. 

How did they find THL?  After defeating an evil doer in a duel and sending him to the shadow realm, someone from the comic book shop suggested I play Hearthstone cause it was equally manly with less shadow realm. And there are trap cards....need i say more?  

How long have they been playing Hearthstone?  Back when Sir Finley was up for an adventure. And druid was a normal class.

What do they love best about THL?  In the Call of Duty world we call em easter eggs. For example, when Houndmaster tells you he let the dawgs out. We finally got an answer to that age old question, because we never did find out who.... who let the dawgs out? I heard about some guy going around wrecking Prius owners. I think we can all get behind that. And the tavern talk guys are legit in my book. 

Favourite THL person not on their team? Cody from Dirty Mike & The Boys can have my vote for 1st ballot all star, fa sho.

Favourite band/song/music to jam to while playing Hearthstone?  Mos Def, Eagle Eye Cherry / Save Tonight. Lol. Also what about Breakfast at Tiffanys? And Velonica. I am of a darker hue, so I'm always listening to gangsta rap. 

If they weren’t on their current team, what team would they like to be playing for? There is only da stubbs. None before none after.

What’s your THL history? A few Wicked Wednesdays

How did they find THL? Dirty Mike and the Boys suggested trying to sub for a team if I had the time and thanks to our fearless leader MrMandingo I'm actually playing on a team this season.

How long have they been playing Hearthstone? Roughly 3 years 

What do they love best about THL? I love the competitive aspect of THL as well as the friendship among all the players. 

Favorite THL person not on their team? Can't play favorites. 

Favorite band/song/music to jam to while playing Hearthstone? Obviously t-swift and Chris Stapleton. 

If they weren’t on their current team, what team would they like to be playing for? Probably wouldn't be playing as much Hearthstone if I wasn't on the Stubbies. So as far as another team, I would just be subbing when I could.

What’s your THL history? I've been interested ever since I saw my buddy on another team playing with you guys. I've always strived for competition, and I love playing HS, so what better way to get the best of both worlds?

What made you want to be a captain? A couple of my friends were stranded without a team, so I stepped up and brought us together :)

How did you choose your (current) teammates? Very carefully.

How do you feel about your team’s prospects this season? We're going to win, Undoubtedly.

How did you find THL? As stated above, one of my buddies told me to get into it.

How long have you been playing Hearthstone? On and off since release.

What do you love best about THL? How the competitive environment doesn't automatically make everyone act like a d-bag and there's still some friendliness lingering.

They’re not short on neither talent nor swagger, and something tells me they’re going to be a force to be reckoned with this season and in the future. Confident teammates. Tight social bonds. A captain that always rises to the occasion. THL - Welcome the Stubbies.
