Hello THL! It's almost expansion launch time, and to tide you by in the days coming up to the Witchwood (hype), we have something very special for you: our homeboy Sage has interviewed each and every one of our Sylvanas League Season 5 Champions, Booty Sweat, with a different one coming up each day and the final one you on launch day! Up next in this series, we have Booty Sweat's Captain and 1 Seed: Ericokey! -rebobson Sage: Congrats once more on winning the Sylvanas League Season 5 Championship ring! So, let's begin by getting to know the captain of such a provocatively named team a bit better first. Tell us a little bit about yourself, and what makes the madman behind Booty Sweat tick. Ericokey: I'm 25 years old and from Augusta, Georgia. I've been playing in THL for 3 seasons now; this was my second season in Sylvanas League. The majority of our team is the same as the team I was the captain of last season, the Flint Tropics, but we were over PR and had to make some changes and picked up TheAnarchist in Free Agency. I've been playing Hearthstone since Whispers of the Old Gods and came to the game originally looking for another card game to play besides Magic: the Gathering. Sage: Awesome that your team is sticking together so well from season to season. You guys have certainly made an impact on the league culture. What inspired the name Booty Sweat, and did you have a strong run to win it all in mind from the start? Ericokey: Yeah it's pretty great that we get to stick together since the majority of my teams are usually all local to me. Booty Sweat for example is all local except TheAnarchist. The name comes from the movie Tropic Thunder, which if you haven't seen it you should. We made the team with the intentions of winning it all, but we also didn't really prepare a whole lot; we kind of just played what we liked and won. There wasn't a whole lot of discussion over the majority of our matches. Sage: Oh wow! I'm sure your opposition from the finals will be salty all over again after reading that you guys did very minimal prep. I would've assumed the opposite was true. What do you think helped you guys the most from week to week if there was minimal prep involved? Ericokey: Probably the fact that at least 4 out of 5 of us have played Magic: the Gathering for so long, and Hearthstone is basically just a “dumbed down” version of that in a sense, so all the skills of that transfer over. I'm not sure if TheAnarchist plays Magic, but he did have a great season and came up clutch in some big matches anyway. Also, Hearthstone matchups are very polarized, so... if you know what to queue into it will usually go in your favor if you don't misplay. Sage: Having a background in Magic is certainly a boon for anyone looking to do well in Hearthstone. Moving on, this past season in THL has seen a lot of wholesome sportsmanship happening in the THL discord. Of your opponents from this past season, which would you most like to meet in person? Ericokey: Hmm I don't know, meeting any of them would be pretty cool I guess. I can't think of anyone in particular though. Sage: What does a typical week drenched in Booty Sweat look like? Ericokey: About as good as it gets. Sage: After dunking Sylvanas League in a pool full of Booty Sweat, do you have any plans yet for season 6? Ericokey: Yeah we definitely plan to come back for the next season, though we will have to make a couple roster changes since we are over the PR cap again. Sage: PR caps are literally the worst. I just want my favorite two five-hundo's back, but it feels like it'll never happen. *sadness* Well, before we wrap up, was there an awesome moment from a match or even a teammate's match at any point during the season that feels most memorable for you? Ericokey: Pretty sure TheAnarchist swept in the last game of our series in the last week of the regular season to put us in the playoffs, and then he swept again to win the championship. BOOTY SWEPT! Those were pretty memorable Sage: *emoji representation of Booty Sweat* Ericokey: Oh, also we lost to the Thiccbois in the regular season when were given 2 DQ wins, but then beat them in the playoffs when they all submitted their classes. Sage: Gotta love beating a team in playoffs that you'd previously lost too. That about does it bud. Is there anything you'd like to say to your team or to the league? Ericokey: Thanks for helping me win my first championship boys! DRINK BOOTY SWEAT BABY! Sage: Thanks for your time Ericokey, congrats again and i hope to see some Booty Sweat in my conference next season! Good luck with your recruiting as well.
