JerryDamage, Sage and Darkseid drop the hottest Sylv mixtape of 2018 as they rank all the teams from 20 to 1.Hello THL! By now we’ve all submitted our classes and are preparing for our first match of the season. It’s an exciting time as we are all 0-0 and in theory we are all headed to the finals to win the championship. This season the Sylvanas Selection Committee will be bringing you the weekly team rankings for Sylvanas league. The committee consists of myself (JerryDamage), Sage, and Darkseid. We’re three long time THL veterans who have sat down and looked at the rosters in depth and analyzed them to come up with this list.
The rankings can be divided into 4 categories. 1-4 Pre-season championship picks. These teams have the makeup of a team that we think could make it to the finals and win the championship. 5-10 Playoff contenders. These teams are ones that we believe could make a playoff run and then possibly make a run at the top 4 teams to make a run for the finals. 11-16 Teams to watch. These teams are teams that we feel will be competitive but are teams that we need to see some performance from in order to move them up into the Championship/Playoff contenders. 17-20 Question marks? These teams are ones that we’ve got questions about. We are not saying that they won’t move up to the playoff area. All this means, as far as the preseason rankings are concerned, is that we didn’t have enough data on you to move you up to one of the other areas. Without further ado, let’s begin our countdown. 20. Cult of Mecha’Thun. The Cult comes in as a new team with some new players on it’s roster. We know that Quaz has competed some in the various events and things that THL has held and that ClarkHellscream is pretty good at Hearthstone. But the rest of the roster are players we aren’t sure of just yet as they are new to THL. Week 1 they have a big challenge in Team Black Lotus so after that we should have a better idea of where they should belong on the list. 19. Bomb Voyage Another team that we don’t know a lot about. Bomb Voyage has THL veteran Doctor Dr8del as their captain so they have someone around who understands how the league works. They also have an extensive array of subs and practice partners which could help them all get acclimated to THL faster than normal. Week 1 they take on Black Op Elves which will be a good test for them and allow us to get a better handle on where they need to be on this list. 18. Xplosive Sheep The Sheep missed the playoffs in Season 6 and have a new roster coming into Season 7. Captain Mattyebs has 4 new players on his roster. The Sheep have a strong pedigree of championships in the past but it’s yet to be determined how this roster will perform. Week 1 they play Smells like Steam Spirit so after that we should start to have an idea. 17. AskHS The Sylvanas version of AskHS have some names that we’ve seen but not names that we’ve seen dominate in Sylvanas league so far. Captain Khell has Saku and RCIX as the 4/5 along with Opti at the 3. AskHS could be a strong team but as of this list it’s another team that we’d like to see how they perform. Week 1 they have a big test in DadLegend. 16. Eon The former Ragnaros champions are back! Why are the former champs ranked 16th? Well for a few reasons. It’s been a few seasons since this roster has competed together and on top of that, it was in Ragnaros and not Sylvanas. If this team comes in with the same championship mindset then they’ll move up this list very quickly. That’s why they are a team that we see potential in, but one that we need to watch and see how they perform over the first few weeks. Week 1 they take on the Big Deck Bandits. 15. The Fearless Hearth Last season The Fearless Hearth won the red division amidst some controversy as they finished with the highest points in Red, but with less points than the 3rd place team in Gold. They won the division title and made the playoffs but did not manage to turn that into a playoff run. This season, Captain Chiggmo has recruited a nice roster with Aviously and Apexpredator looking to have some breakout seasons. This team could make it back to the playoffs. But last year they took advantage of a weak Red division to do so and this season they are in one of the tougher divisions in Sylvanas. Week 1 they have a big test ahead of them as they face The Faithless Lumi. 14. Big Deck Bandits The team with the biggest decks have a team that’s been around the league for a while but a team that we need to see performance from before we move them up. The potential is there for this team to make the playoffs as they are in Gold, which many consider to be the weakest division in THL. Week 1 they play Eon. 13. Hero Power Rangers The Hero Power Rangers have a team that competed well last season but they have added some new faces to their roster. If the BritBulldog can power slam the other 1 seeds then this team could easily move up the rankings. Week 1 they take on ATL. 12. Tan Pam’s Surf Slam Tan Pam’s Surf Slam made the playoffs last season and could find themselves back there this season. Last season they got a wildcard spot over the teams in Red. This season they are in Blurple, which is much tougher. They can make it back to the playoffs, but we need to see them perform well before they can move up the list. Week 1 they take on Tap Last. 11. DadLegend The guys who hit Rank 5 each season are back to compete again in Season 7. There’s a lot of talent here and that’s why they are at the top of this part of the rankings. I fully expect that this team will likely move up the rankings quickly. Week 1 they take on AskHS. 10. 65,340,285 Boars The champs are back! We fully expect them to make another run at the playoffs. They return the core of their title team, but have added Brasky and Runehesaid in place of Rebobson and KombatWombat. This move has left them 351 points under the PR cap. These moves may work out and may allow the team to stay together for at least one more season as players like Brasky are very underseeded at 197 PR. However, we need to see them all perform well before we can move them up the rankings. Week 1 they have a big test as they take on The Ugly Mucklings. 9. Floop’s Gloop’s Boops The team with one of the best names in Sylvanas League are back. Last season they entered the playoffs as the number 1 overall team. They made the finals once again before losing to the Boars. They lose their 1-3 seeds but retain their 4/5 seeds. With 3 new players on their roster it’s why we have placed them this low. However, since they have made the finals in each season that they’ve been a team, we expect that they’ll move up the rankings once the season starts. Week 1 they take on The Insomniacs. 8. Argent Terminus Legion ATL is back once again. They had a solid run to the semi-finals last season and are back to hopefully make another deep playoff run this season. AlienSanta and FRIDgaming left for the South Pole and have been replaced with more residents of Atlanta. In Atlanta, they do know how to play some good Hearthstone. However, with new faces on the roster we like to see how they perform before moving them up the rankings. Week 1 they take on the Hero Power Rangers. 7. Tap Last Tap Last made a push for the playoffs last season but came up short. So what does Captain Nade do? He gets some guys who Tap FIRST! On paper this should be a strong roster, but with newcomers to the LHS format, as always we like to see how they perform before moving up. Week 1 they take on Tan Pam’s Surf Slam. 6. The Insomniacs Coach JoshSampson has brought together a talented team that could take Sylvanas by storm. They have a strong 1-3 seeds and TwoStarMako may be renamed to FourStarMako if he has a great season. This is a team we expect could do very well. Week 1 they have a tough challenge in Floop’s Gloop’s Bloops. 5. Smells Like Steam Spirit Bluesombrero has gathered a competitive team with some THL veterans to go along with some talented newcomers. They’ve got the right mix to make a run at the playoffs and then possibly make a good run into them. Week 1 they take on Xplosive Sheep. 4. Black Ops Elves AlienSanta moved from Atlanta to the South Pole and brought FRIDGaming with him. This gives them one of the premier 1 and 2 seed combos in the league. Round it out with some other solid players and this is a team to watch out for. Week 1 they take on Bomb Voyage. 3. Team Black Lotus ForceofWill’s team is back for yet another season and he may have his most competitive roster to date. Top to bottom this may be one of the best rosters in Sylvanas league this season and one that we can easily see competing for a title. Week 1 they take on Cult of Mecha’Thun. 2. Faithless Lumi Captain Volkai has a new squad but don’t let that fool you about how impressive this lineup is. He’s got what is likely the best 1 and 2 seed combo in Sylvanas this season in Seohyn628 and Leadpaint. Add in a solid 3-5 seeds and this is a team to watch out for. Week 1 they take on The Fearless Hearth. 1. The Ugly Mucklings How do you get ranked higher than the best 1 and 2 seed in the league? You put IronFIRE as your 3 seed. The Ugly Mucklings have take their playoff roster from last season and improved it. They added former Ragnaros champion Wolfmack as the 1 seed and JerryDamage to the 4 seed. Lots of hype for a talented roster. They have a big test in Week 1 as they take on the Boars. Join us next week as we evaluate the week 1 results to see how those affect the rankings and how wrong our pre-season picks likely are.
