Hi everyone! I'm ready to announce the details for our schedule leading into the start of the season.
First off, if you haven't already, please confirm your registration on the Member Info Form page. Check out the Players page for a list of who I have as confirmed and not. I'm updating this Players page manually each evening so don't worry when it does't update immediately. The deadline for confirming your spot is Wednesday, January 28 at 10:00 PM EST. Anyone who has not confirmed by that time will be removed from the player list and our mailing list.
Second, since you were all so kind to sign up without actually knowing the specific time for league matches, I have created a poll to gauge what times would work for the most people. Fortunately, our format allows for flexible scheduling so don't worry if you have a conflict with whatever time we end up choosing. All responses for the poll need to be in by Tuesday, January 27th at 10:00 PM EST.
So by this Thursday we'll have the schedule set and a more accurate idea of how many people will be participating. If we end up falling short of the minimum number of players needed (16 players for 4 teams), we have a few days to find others to fill in the open spots. With the list of players finalized, the captains will get together and hold a draft. Because this is the first season and we're working with fewer players, the draft format will a bit unusual to help ensure that all players find a team and the teams' skill levels are as close as we can get them.
The target is to get all the players and teams finalized by Monday February 2nd. With that done teams will have almost a week to get acquainted, practice, and plan before submitting their class selections for week 1, which will be due on Sunday, February 8. The classes will be published on Monday, February 9th and the ban selections will be due on Wednesday, February 11th.
That puts the true beginning of this alpha season, week 1 competition, on Valentine's day weekend. This is unfortunate because I'm sure it will cause some scheduling issues, but I'd rather be flexible and deal with those issues than push the start date back any further. If the poll results favor Saturday night, we may make a change for that week only, just to avoid inevitable conflict with V-day plans.
