Ragnaros X Team Reveal: Dad Legend

Get ready for Ragnaros Season 10 and Sylvanas Season 7 with our week-long series of team reveals!  We'll be revealing one team each day leading up to the grand stream reveal on Tavern Talk.  Remember to tune in to Twitch on Thursday (Ragnaros)  8/23 and Friday (Sylvanas) 8/24 to see the remaining teams and division assignments.  Today is our next Ragnaros reveal: Dad Legend captained by Yellowdart and written by JerryDamage!

Today we continue with our team reveals as we take a look at a team from Ragnaros. Let’s look at DadLegend as we speak with their captain, Yellowdart.


What made you want to be a captain for Ragnaros Season 10?

Yellowdart: The DadLegend team is now a tradition and I want to keep that going. We have something to prove in Ragnaros League after a disappointing first season and I think we're set up to be really competitive this season. On the Sylvanas side we're coming off back to back Final 4's so we're looking to take that elusive next step and bring home a title. I really enjoy playing with my fellow DadLegend community members and try to represent the larger group in a positive light through the THL teams.

Over the years we’ve seen a variety of ways to build a team. What strategy did you use for your team this season?

Yellowdart: We've made the Final 4 the last 2 seasons in Sylvanas League, so the goal there was to keep the team as consistent as possible. We were over PR but Junksterr is planning on focusing on WoW this season so we've added Fern to the team in the 5 seed and are excited to have her aboard. The other 4 players are all the same as last season. In Ragnaros league we were fortunate to pick up Rizen for the 3 seed and are glad to have him in both leagues now. I decided to make a concerted effort to allocate a lot of PR to the lower seeds and have that be a strength of the team. Getting Altenberg and JoshSampson for 4/5 definitely feels strong but was at the expense of a good one seed (hint: it's me). If Ben and myself can hold our own at 1/2 I think our 3-5 seeds will put us in a good position this season.

Tell me about your first player.

Yellowdart: Well I guess that's me. I'll be the 1 seed this season and it will definitely be a challenge playing vs the best players in the league week in and week out. I'm more comfortable as a 2 seed but doing this allowed us to be so strong at 3-5 that it was worth it. I've had some success at the 2 seed in the past (made 1 All Star team) but have historically struggled when I move into the 1. It's time to turn that around this season - in Leeroy we trust!

I believe Leeroy belongs in every deck. And that includes Even decks.

Yellowdart: That’s what I’ve been saying for months. I have a…..reputation now…lol.

Tell me about your second player.

Yellowdart: Wowdotben is our 2 seed, the founder of the DadLegend community, and runs some of the best firesides in the country. He's been really strong for us in the 2 seed on the Sylvanas side the past several seasons and this will be his first full season in the Ragnaros League. We'll be looking for continued strong play from him in order to compete at the level we want to. Starlax better hope he doesn't have to queue into Ben...

Who’s your next player?

Yellowdart: We're thrilled to have Rizen join us in Ragnaros this season to take over the 3 seed. We've been teammates for 3 seasons in Sylvanas League and when he told me he was interested I knew I had to do whatever it took to make it work. He started out as a 5 seed in THL when he first got into HS a few seasons ago and in my mind is one of the best PR values in the league as I think he'd succeed playing at any seed. The guy tears up the ladder on multiple servers, runs a super educational stream, and I'd put his matchup prep abilities up there with just about anyone. Definitely a huge boost to the team for this season.

Who do you have as your 4 seed?

Yellowdart: In the 4 seed I'm happy announce that we've been able to land Altenberg this season. He and I have spoken before every season about trying to make it work for about 3 seasons running now and this time it finally happened! I've known him to be a great player for a while now and this last season he really showed everyone by being a key part of TNL's championship run. I think the entire league is appreciative of the lineup analytics he's been doing and I'm definitely glad to have that level of insight within the team.

And who is your final player?

Yellowdart: Rounding out the team, we have joshsampson in the 5 seed. That's right. Josh is our 5 seed and I feel sorry for all the other 5 seeds out there who will have to play him. I've always respected Josh's eye for the game from watching him cast on the THL stream (especially when he sees lines in my matches that I never did) and my interactions with him as a board member have always been nothing but positive. So once I realized I'd have a chance to add him to the team in a position where he's set up to dominate it was absolutely a no-brainer.

Any final comments as we head into the season?

Yellowdart: I would just say that we're excited for the season to start and I'm super glad to have all the guys we do as I think they all bring a ton to the table individually, now we just have to figure out how to be a successful team. Definitely think we're going to improve significantly over last seasons Ragnaros League showing, and if Ben and I can hold our own at 1/2 I think our 3-5 is going to match up well vs anyone in the league and should set us up for success. Everyone can be assured we'll have our cargo shorts and white New Balances ready to start the season off right.
