Ragnaros Playoffs Quarterfinal Report Xcelsior is here to guide you through a dramatic and scintillating week of Ragnaros Playoffs action! Greetings THL community. I’m Xcelsior and I’m here to guide you through a dramatic and scintillating week of Ragnaros Playoffs action. After a hard fought season Thermic Whims, :hot_pepper:, Collective Mayhem, Team Next Level, Vote of No Confidence, Saronite Paing Gang, BRF, and Always Topdeck Lethal were able to make it to the playoffs. Unfortunately, only Team Next Level, :hot_pepper, Vote of No Confidence, and Always Topdeck Lethal advanced to the semifinals. Let’s find out how this week went.
The first match was the Thermic Whims versus Team Next Level. In terms of lineups both teams agreed that Druid was a strong pick with only Altenberg opting to not bring the class. Team Next Level chose to bring three Priests while the Thermic Whims brought three Rogues. TNL also placed emphasis on Mage with the class brough four times while the Whims opted to bring Warrior in the fifth and sixth seed. In the beginning of the week Next Level got out to a quick start with 3-1 victories from Sazuru and Jammies against Switters and Primo. It would prove to be a very tight matchup though as Jaxox defeated KillerVeebs 3-0 and Rizen vanquished Altenberg 3-2 in an incredibly tight series. The week came down to a great match of Hearthstone on a beautiful Sunday morning between Brewski and Tri. Tri won the first game and Brewski won the next two before Tri closed out the match. Congratulations to Brewski on an unprecedented 9-0 season but Tri’s bold choice to name his decks 9-1 proved to be a good decision. In the end Team Next Level defeated Thermic Whims 14-12. The next matchup was :hot_pepper: in the two seed facing three seed Collective Mayhem. Week 9 of the Ragnaros regular season featured :hot_pepper: snatching the division title from Collective Mayhem. Week 10 featured Mayhem being eliminated from the playoffs by their divisional rivals. There was a broad consensus between both teams that Druid and Hunter were good brings this week. However, Collective Mayhem chose to put their trust in Warlock and Mage with four out of five players bringing each class. :hot_pepper: chose to bring four Shamans and two Rogues with only two Shamans and no Rogues from Collective Mayhem. :hot_pepper:’s dominant top seeds seemed to stumble this week as Ironfire defeated Markshire 3-2 while kd1215 lost 1-3 to Itachi. However, wins by Kartigan (3-0 over SmileyKris) and Cakes (3-2 over FollowDurden) were able to get :hot_pepper: the win. Davpetm did beat Caracarn 3-1. Ultimately, :hot_pepper: won 14-12. The third playoff match this week was AlwaysTopdeckLethal against the Saronite Pain Gang. Both teams exhibited strong unity in their class selections. Druid, Hunter, and Warlock were favorites for both teams. ATL opted to have Mage as their fourth class while SPG chose Paladin. It’s interesting to note that while both teams had nearly uniform class selection only ATL had a unified ban, in this case Warlock. SPG banned Warlock thrice, Druid once, and Paladin once. It seemed that unity was a better pick with ATL winning 14-12. Of the three players that brought Druid, Paladin, Hunter, and Warlock for SPG only Nicolias won (3-0) and Darkseid and Donde lost. (1-3 and 2-3 respectively) For ATL, Bluespartan was the only one of three players to lose with Druid, Hunter, Mage, and Warlock. (2-3). Rkeysar was the only ATL player to bring Shaman and was pounded 0-3. Congratulations to ATL who continue their miracle run into the semifinals. The last playoff match this week was between the Board Resistance Fighters and Vote of No Confidence. Spoiler, VoNC smashed BRF 18-7 giving up only one 2-3 match when Aeo lost to Jimphilos. Their Druid, Hunter, Shaman, and Warlock plan worked out quite well. On the other hand the BRF had eight classes represented. I don’t know what kind of match prep went down in their camp but it wasn’t cohesive at all. Most players brough Druid and Warlock I guess? Rebobson defeated Apexpredador 3-1. Stehpieee defeated Plantz 3-0. Run defeated Lyondenn 3-2 and Brasky defeated TheTownDrunk 3-0. Congratulations to Vote of No Confidence. This was yet another statement week for them. Congratulations to the winning teams and good luck in the next round!
