Ragnaros Player Power Rankings Week 2Who's burning up all of the rank 5 players? ironFIRE brings us the hot players through 2 weeks of Rag in the Player Power Rankings! Did you make the list? Hello and welcome to the first Ragnaros S9 Player Power Rankings! Every two weeks ironFIRE will take a look at the best players in Ragnaros League, while alternate weeks you’ll get an update on Sylvanas League Rankings.
In this first Player Power Rankings, we’re going to take a look at the 20 as-of-yet undefeated players (and rebobson) across Ragnaros League. These players all have an unmarred 2-0 match record, so we’ll be looking at game records rather than declaring a 20-way tie. 1 Seeds Brewski (6-1) Thermic Whims bonja (6-2) Team Mox ironFIRE (6-2) :hot_pepper: Stephieee (6-4) Vote of No Confidence Brewski looks to be as dominant as he’s ever been in his 5th THL season. (Hmm... why does it feel like the 5th season is a special one?) He has the highest hidden PR of any league player, and his 6-1 game record is the best among all 1 seeds in Ragnaros. If you don’t feel a pang of dread when you see Brewski as your week’s opponent, you’re braver than I. Yours truly and bonja sport a 6-2 game record. If you’re itching for something to break the tie, I’ll just mention that bonja and I did face off in Mysterious Challenger League this week. Finally, Stephieee has emerged victorious in close 3-2 matches both weeks. Don’t be fooled into thinking that Stephieee’s success gives her Tavern Talk predictions any cred though: she shamelessly plays favorites. 2 Seeds Xcelsior (6-1) Team Next Level Crovan (6-3) Team Xnergy kd1215 (6-3) :hot_pepper: Honorable Mention: rebobson (3-1) Vote of No Confidence League newcomers Xcelsior and kd1215 come out hot (and in kd’s case, spicy) with wins in the first two weeks, putting them in contention for the coveted Rookie of the Season Award. Xcelsior has a difficult road though, as he faces undefeated league veteran and Season 8 championship finalist Crovan in week 3. Last season’s 2 seed All-Star rebobson is the only undefeated 2 seed in Red/Yellow. Sadly, one of his match wins was due to a scheduling DQ by his opponent, Woodford, meaning the stats dashboard shows him with a 1-0 record despite his perfect performance thus far. (Hilariously, Woodford is currently 0-0. RidiculousHat failed to pick classes vs. Woodford in week 1.) 3 Seeds Curtis (6-2) :hot_pepper: SwankyTiger (6-3) Really Nice Guys Tues (6-3) Maple Syrup Inc. Kols (6-4) Saronite Pain Gang Newcomer Curtis is the third hot pepper on this list, and the best relative to his peers. His sweep in week 1 carried him to a 6-2 game record. SwankyTiger’s 7th (!!) season is off to a great start. Week 3 the Really Nice Guys play the Jumbo Skrimps which is the best opportunity SwankyTiger could ask for to keep these W’s flowing. Tues’s winstreak has propelled him out of the 3 seed into the 1 seed this week. In order to maintain his undefeated record, he has to beat the (1-0) undefeated, 500 PR IrvinG of Defias Brotherhood. Will Tues keep winning and hang onto Maple Syrup’s 1 seed permanently, or will Maple Syrup’s top 3 shift around slowly like a certain sugary, viscous liquid? One player we know won’t have a 4-0 record come the next Power Rankings is Kols. Saronite Pain Gang is running a sub in the 3 seed this week. Nonetheless, Kols has already proven to be a strong player. 4 Seeds RedditGoat (6-1) Team Xnergy Rizen (6-2) Thermic Whims c0mp (6-3) Defias Brotherhood BlakeHall (6-4) Always Topdeck Lethal Xnergy replaced two of their championship finalist squad from season 8; RedditGoat is one of the replacements, and boy is it paying off so far! The rookie leads the pack of undefeated 4 seeds. Last time I saw, Rizen was in top 100 legend. No wonder he’s undefeated! THL itself only has 100 players. If it weren’t for the 125 PR gap between the Whims’ 3 and 4 seeds, I’d say Rizen would rise to a 3 seed before season’s end. As it stands, Rizen won’t rise. c0mp’s lifetime winrate over 7 seasons is 41.51%. This season, it’s 100%. Could this be a record-setting season for the veteran? BlakeHall returns to last season’s semifinalists, Always Topdeck Lethal, with a perfect 2-0. Last season Blake sported a middle-of-the-road 5-5 winrate. Could his improvement this year be enough to push ATL through to the finals? Time will tell. 5 Seeds KrakShot (6-1) Really Nice Guys Aeo (6-2) Vote of No Confidence Cody (6-2) DirtyMike & The Boys TheChronic (6-2) Prep Coin Concede DocMcButt (6-3) Team Mox Look at all these undefeated 5 seeds! You know what they say about those: they turn into undefeated 4 seeds. Krakshot is the closest to rising through the ranks: his and joshsampson’s PR are both 275, within a rounding error. This elite group of undefeated 5 seeds is guaranteed to be thinned soon for a reason other than promotion, sadly: TheChronic and Cody face each other in week 3. Aeo is the third player from Vote of No Confidence to make it into this week’s Power Rankings. That’s the team to beat in the Red/Yellow division. (Please, I mean it, this team is full of content creators for the website. Someone has to beat them to save us from getting bragged at from every corner.)
