basedinc is back (featuring iCon this week). Sorry about the delay, but these were written prior to any action this week.THL Pro Week 7 Predictions
After another wild week in Pro, we’re starting to get a picture of what the playoff race is going to look like. The Beard Boys is our clear frontrunner with a 9 point lead on the field. A tight 2nd and 3rd are FTL and AEON respectively with 1 point of separation between the two. Then there’s the pack. 6 teams are vying for that 4th playoff spot. I repeat for you 6. That is half of the teams separated by 5 points top to bottom. All that said, those first 3 spots are not out of reach so don’t count anyone in or out just yet. These final weeks are going to be a somehow more wild ride than these last two weeks. Strap in folks. We have no idea what’s coming in Pro, and we’re over halfway through the season. Average team score: 85.3 Average AOS: 14.22 The Beard Boys (5-1, 110, 13.53) vs. AEON (4-2, 100, 13.57) I will disenchant my Millhouse Manastorm if at least one of these teams does not make playoffs. RemindMe! 5 weeks. AEON is a team on the rise. They swept Taste The Rainbow last week to improve to 4-2 and a 3-week win-streak. The Beard Boys are still leading the division in points and record but have had their first struggles the last week. They narrowly clinched a victory late Sunday evening over Bad to the Bone after HonestZaib swept Aviously. It was the only way for The Beard Boys to outright win at that point. The Beard Boys are the only 5-1 team for a good reason. They are the most consistent at finding a way to get the job done. It’ll be sweaty, dirty work this week, but I think The Beard Boys hang on in a 15-14 squeaker. FTL (4-2, 101, 13.87) vs. Taste The Rainbow (4-2, 87, 12.57) Two of our previously undefeated teams now find themselves with the same record at 4-2. Taste The Rainbow had a dramatic drop in the standings last week after getting swept by AEON. FTL had a tight match with Top-Hatted Titans that handed them another loss on the season. Both these teams have stumbled but will certainly both straighten up and return to form. There is one slight issue here. One team will have to wait for next week. I think this is a week about passion and how dedicated they are to getting across that finish line in the top 4. I think FTL has got just a bit more in the tank and will grind out a 14-12 victory this week. Tap Last (3-3, 90, 14.63) vs. Top-Hatted Titans (4-2, 85, 15.47) 3-3 scorelines have seemed to be the theme of the week, with Tap Last finding themselves up against an invigorated Top-Hatted Titans. Tap Last will have to perform in an extremely dominant fashion to escape the quicksand of 3-3 teams, and I don’t think we’re going to be seeing that this week. THT has been putting in hard work and I think it will pay off. I’m trusting in the better record for these tightly matched teams. I think Top-Hatted Titans digs deep and pulls out a 14-13 win. The Menagerie (3-3, 90, 12.27) vs. Bad to the Bone (3-3, 89, 15.40) A team that was hailed on paper as an extremely strong team, versus one of the championship favourites whose results have been lacklustre at best. That said, I’m incredibly surprised both these teams are 3-3. Their rosters are stacked. In terms of this week, BTTB has a wealth of competitive experience both in high-level Hearthstone and in Pro Series itself as a champion and I’m calling this at 15-11 for BTTB. The Unknown (3-3, 86, 15.40) vs. Pro-Pain Gang (0-6, 59, 14.77) Another incredibly seasoned team versus a team that’s been….struggling to say the least. Darkseid has yet to put up a win in Pro (please don’t ban me, Board) and the middle duo of Silentred and Towndrunk is struggling to stay afloat. The Unknown is a team that could easily sneak into the top 4 after a few explosive weeks, and I think this will be one of the said weeks. I’m calling this 20-4 for the Unknown. The Other Guys (2-4, 75, 13.87) vs. Defias Protherhood (1-5, 52, 15.43) Both of these teams are still struggling to establish themselves in the format. The Other Guy’s are only 10 points behind the bottom of the pack I talked about earlier. They’ve still got some time to turn their luck around if they can push through this stretch of the season. Unfortunately, Defias Protherhood may have to count themselves out of the playoff run at this point. But that doesn’t mean they won’t take a match here or there on the way out. This team nearly swept The Beard Boys. Will they sweep these Guys? I don’t think so. This is going to be a nailbiter. I’m predicting my first tie of the season at a lucky 13-13. Dream Stream Matches CmaccompH (Tap Last) vs. lilhearthie (Top-Hatted Titans) HockeyBoyz3 (The Beard Boys) vs. Markshire (AEON) BZRK (FTL) vs. Br1ck (Taste The Rainbow) Sorry to y’all. No blurbs for individual matchups here. I had nothing but choices this week for intense matchups to highlight. Get on stream when you can. This is a strong field in a fantastic community. Closing Words This week would have never happened without iCon. Thank you so much. He wrote a lot of the predictions this week and really made this happen. This week was quite busy for me personally, and next week I am moving. If you want to get involved in next week’s article reach out! I may just assign a match or two for anyone who wants it. After last week’s message, I have received nothing but support and love from you all. Thank you so much for the kind words and wishes. It really means the world to me and gives me so much more confidence in myself. This community is the only reason I am addicted to Hearthstone right now. Captains! This may be a little teaser, but start thinking about maybe a movie or piece of fiction that is relevant to your team and shoot me a DM. I got some fun plans after next week for articles. Love you all. I wish you all the best. -basedinc
