Welcome back, THL, to the second instalment of the Player Power Rankings! Every 2 weeks, rebobson and Shunsui21 will take you through their list of the top players in Sylvanas League, using mainly data but also a little pinch of subjectivity. Meanwhile, in those alternate weeks, Markshire and HockeyBoyz3 will take you through their own player rankings for Ragnaros League! Every week, the active pair will recognise one player for a unique accomplishment, tied to performance or not. You will just have to tune in each week to find out what it is! Finally, just to round things off, every week Nade will be interviewing one featured player in order to find out more about what fuels their fires in Tales of the Mighty. We hope you enjoy reading! 1) Switters (15-4): I don't know much about Toliwag’s Disciples’ Switters, but the numbers don't lie: he may be the 2 seed, but he believes his dueling prowess is 2nd to none. Trust me, he is the real deal. With no losses on the season against top ranked duelists such as BlueSpartan, Inkd & ArcaneTHL, Switters is indeed a tough. He won't allow you to make a 2nd or 3rd misplay because your life points will be gone. Keep dueling my friend! -Shunsui21 2) Wolfmack (15-6): His name Wolfmack, he the leader of the pack, He go undefeated he ain’t cuttin’ any slack, When homeboy howls, he going to attack, So if you play this sucka soon then you better watch your back. -rebobson 3) CARY (15-6): Bad prom night? Well, having a duel against Team Next Level's 1 seeded CARY is not going to make it any better to be honest. The owner of a 15-6 game score, also beating two heavy hitters in Earl and Nate; you will need more than a pretty flower and dad’s blessing to make it home safe. Hope you make curfew. -Shunsui21 4) Ozmanaut (15-6): The Wizard of Ozmanaut heads up the undefeated club, Tan Pam’s Surf Slam’s resident 5-seed magician taking out such esteemed League hands as Force of Will, DocMcButt, Saku, and the very next person on this list... -rebobson 5) RedditGoat (14-4): The 5 seeded RedditGoat of the Thiccbois hit a bump in the road when he met Ozmanaut in the Arena; I can vouch he is no slouch at all. Only dropping 4 games this season, is he on his way to being the 'GOAT' of all fifth seeded players? The plot Thiccens.... -Shunsui21 6) Nate (14-6): Gallant young Nathanael, fourth in line to the throne of House Tan Pam, came so close to the elusive 5-0. A higher position in these scriptures was cruelly snatched from his grasp at the last moment by the esteemed Sir CARY, in a joust that will ring throughout the ages. -rebobson 7) xEmissary (14-6): The mysteriousness shrouded around xEmissary is completely vexing to say the least! After a week one loss to BlakeHall, this 3 seeded Thiccboi has been on a tear, defeating my rival Brasky a.k.a. Broski and two time all-star Sirlos, no easy task might I add. We can call it the heart of the cards for now, one thing is for sure: this duelist means business! -Shunsui21 8) Jammies (14-7): Now, gather round, my trans-Atlantic brethren, it’s time for a lesson in some good ol’ English slang. Where I come from, to be ‘a jammy bastard’ is to be ‘one lucky sonuvagun’; but, you know what? Jammies doesn’t even need that luck, he’s just got pure skills. 4 wins, with a solitary loss to the unpredictable TRYHARD memes of one HockeyBoyz3, show Jammies isn’t going to find himself in a sticky situation anytime soon. (PS, that was a British pun. You’re learning. Well done.) -rebobson 9) Egman (12-8): Whoever said Dr. Robotnik wasn't the real deal, did not watch a lot of Sonic the Hedgehog growing up! LOL. Seriously though, the 1-seeded Egman of the Legendary Dad team is everything his seed says he is and that's fact. Pops took one on the chin from Wolfmack, who is manly in his own right, but all that did was refocus him for a 3 week win streak. You whippersnappers better be ready to get your game on, because DadLegend is attempting to put the whole league in time out. -Shunsui21 10) Ericokey (10-6, 1 DQ Win): How can we put a man with only 3 wins over an honourable mention with 4 wins?! I hear you cry, I see the baying mob outside my window. Please, I implore you, allow me to justify myself, before you tear me limb from limb like the animals that you are. For you, see, while dear Ericokey has a DQ win, that DQ win was against Team TRYHARD, whilst his remaining matches were against such heavyweight names as earl, Stephieee, and FRIDGaming; I truly believe he should not be punished for being matched against the ever-absent GNetz. I beg you, spare my life. -rebobson Honourable Mentions: Inposition (12-6) Big ups to Inposition; this guy just doesn't stay down after you give him a haymaker or three. Much respect brotha man, you got yourself a very impressive 4 week win streak with a 12-6 game count thus far. He is turning into a real problem for any duelist. We wouldn't be doing justice to the world if we didn't mention him with the other honorables. -Shunsui21 Shunsui21 (9-6) Some may cry nepotism at one of the article’s authors being placed here, and to those I say: shhhhhhhhhh. Truly though, Shunsui’s record is close to attaining the lofty heights of the main article. However, his DQ win was not against Team TRYHARD, so we cannot in good conscience award him any imaginary magical points for his troubles. Until two weeks time, my trusty co-pilot, may your Millenium Items bring you luck in the duels to come. -rebobson That's My Ninja! Every week, Shunsui21 will be selecting one player who he has deemed worthy of this most special of accolades: the duelist who he believes is worthy of being ‘My Ninja’. This week: Sylvanas is a grand league with a lot of competitors and everyone doing their best. Teamwork is key, also deck prep and communication keeps morale up. O’ Captain, my Captain! Ericokey has zen like Phil Jackson, and the swashburglaring skills to rival Gol D. Roger himself. Thanks for all your work. That's my ninja fo' life. Drink Booty Sweat Baby! -Shunsui21 Tales of the Mighty: Nade Meets... Wolfmack!Busy night... but there's always room for another! Welcome to another installment of Tales of the Mighty. This week we get to hear from Xnergy’s dominant 1 seed, Wolfmack, from Sylvanas League. As you can see above, he’s had an absolutely outstanding season so far, and has established himself as a THL titan after only a few seasons in the league. Let’s get right to it then; I know this has been a long article so far but I promise you, the end is coming! How did you find out about THL, and why did you want to get involved? I learned about THL from Bytes, and Dunamis during some Firesides we used to go to. Do you have any specific Hearthstone accomplishments that you’re proud of? Hitting top 6 Legend with Corpsetaker Rogue a few months ago was pretty cool. S6 Ragnaros MVP. How would you define your play style? What about your competitive philosophy? I’d like to think my tempo oriented play style goes well with my competitive philosophy “If you ain’t first, you’re last.” What’s your favorite Hearthstone deck to play (from any era of the game)? Favorite card? My favorite deck of all time is @tomaszHS’s Aggro Freeze Mage!!! I played that deck in like November~ of 2016. My favorite card is Doomsayer. Do you have any competitive experience in other games? I was never competitive in any other game... I sucked at WoW, and was very mediocre at Yugioh. I did win a feature match at Yugioh Championship Series Las Vegas 2014 where, in an effect chain, my opponent flipped over 3 Royal Decrees yet I had 3 Mystical Space Typhoons to destroy all of them :-)) Besides drawing Corridor Creeper before your opponent, why do you think you’ve been performing so well in Sylvanas League? Drawing Raza before my opponents? When you’re not pwning noobs, what else do you enjoy doing on your free time? Poppin’ caffeine pills. Pettin’ cats. Puttin’ out bangers. With friends. What’s your favorite series of THL content? Tavern Talk! What would you suggest to any players struggling this season? Have your team review your replays, even the games you win, and be receptive to criticism. Copy a pro’s lineup, they play more practice matches and do more research than you do. Any shout outs you’d like to end on? Shoutout to my Spicey Boys, Hearthstone Academy, and Xnergy! If this is your first time hearing about Wolfmack then I suggest you get used to hearing that name. He’s quickly proven himself to be a boss, and you better hope you don’t have to email this guy one day to propose times for your weekly match. What did we learn from this league leader? Cats are cool, Ricky Bobby would wreck at children’s card games, and we should remember what momma always said: “Whatever happens in Vegas is usually ruined by three consecutive Mystical Space Typhoons.”
Come back next week to learn more about the players who are ruining your precious winrate! Until next time: get in there and fight, maggots! -Nade
