Hello THL, For today’s interview, I have the captain of the Sleepyhead Shakers and recent Hall of Fame Captain, Seth(ForChrist). Diamond: What do you look for when constructing your roster? Seth: I try to find some players that I know from ladder or streams that I’ve interacted with. I look for players who want to have fun but also can be competitive with the best teams. Diamond: How would you describe your captaining style? Seth: Very laid-back, just checking in a few times a week to make sure matches are scheduled and played, decks are submitted on time, etc. I’m very hands-off for the most part; my team has been around a while so they got a good handle on it. Diamond: Do you have any interest in captaining other series besides Wild? Seth: I’ve captained in Pro before and enjoyed it, I may return to captaining Standard series in the future. Diamond: What seasons have been your favourite in your tenure in THL thus far? Seth: All of my Wild seasons have been a blast, but especially our championship season and my undefeated season are highlights. Diamond: What does it take to win in the Wild series?
Seth: A good idea on how to counter and pilot the best decks in the format. Especially in this aggro-heavy meta there are interesting options for finding counterplay to their board-based aggression. Diamond: How do you keep your players motivated during the season? Seth: Checking in around mid-season to make sure everyone is still doing well, making sure to have subs ready if someone needs a break for a week or two. Diamond: In a previous interview, MartyB said that your team was his biggest competition in the Wild series this season. Is F2L Viridian your biggest competition in the Wild series? Seth: Always have been, every season but one we’ve eliminated each other from playoffs. Diamond: What would your advice for any rookie or newer captains in THL be? Seth: Make sure to stay in contact with your team, ensure you have the same goals for the season, [and] don’t be afraid to sub out when you need a break. Also have a secondary contact in case you won’t be reachable in an emergency situation. I want to thank Seth for his time and for answering all of my questions. Thank you for reading the interview series and please DM any feedback to me on Discord (diamond22_). Next week, I will be interviewing a prolific captain.
