Bad Hombres - Team Profile

“Get ‘em out!!” said the evil THL, Inc. dictatorship.
“We’re in 13th place LUL,” laughed the professional meme team of 2017.

The Bad Hombres: once a just-for-fun meme squad who was more interested in enjoying the game than scoring points, now…. still the same, just doing better than your team.

Team History

The Bad Hombres have been around as a team for 3 seasons, but most of them have been a part of THL since the beginnings (Alpha: Brunson, Cassity; Beta: Mainge, Captanmurdoc).  At the time they were a bunch of tryhards, but as they got more and more tired of playing the same few meta decks for months on end they turned into a bunch of memers. Brunson came up with the idea to form a meme team, the gang dug it, and so the Hombres were born in Season 5.

Think you can win your week in style? Think again. For the team’s 4th ever appearance in THL, the Hombres had the most stylish win the league has ever seen. Featuring the unforgettable team-wide HMRS class submission (abbreviating “Hombres”), the memers earned a 10-9 win over the Noobs that made Nade shit his pants metaphorically, physically, and metaphysically. Hombres don’t find the W all too often, but the ripple of this particular victory will forever be felt throughout THL history...

Season 7
During the offseason Brunson stepped down as a player to be the team coach, and Cassity stepped down due to real life responsibility. Thus, the crew lost some of its original lifeblood, but has since resurrected into Season 7 with some good ol’ boys who fit the bill. The current iteration of the team features Captanmurdoc, Tam Rank 5 Season 4 Champions MVParker, Mainge and RogueJT,  and THL, Inc.’s biggest nightmare SmokedSalmon. MVParker - Current 1 seed

What’s your THL history?
First I was on Soupreme. Then I joined Team Rank 5. Then I tried captaining (which was not for me), Team Soupreme. Now I'm a Bad Hombre. GET US OUT!

How did you find THL?
Ultimately I joined to because DeerJason wanted me to join his team.

How long have you been playing Hearthstone?
Can't exactly remember but since closed beta.

What do you enjoy most about THL?
Kinda not sure but I think it's the community (some not all).

Favorite THL person not on your team?
Anamor.

Favorite band/song/music to jam to while playing Hearthstone?
Everything really but lately Machine Gun Kelly.

If you weren’t on your current team, what team would you enjoy playing for?
Obviously Noob Central.

What do you do outside of Hearthstone?
Nothing, hearthstone is love hearthstone is life.


Mainge - Current 2 seed

What’s your THL history?
From season beta all the way up until Season 6 I captained Team Rank 5. I played as high as a 1-seed and as low as a 5-seed, and everything else in between. But after so many seasons of tryharding and playing tier one decks, I decided I needed the Hombres in my life and here I am.

How did you find THL?
Unfortunately I missed the beginning of Season Alpha but I did read about THL over in a thread on r/CompetitiveHS about halfway through. I actually think it was a comment from Viridae.

How long have you been playing Hearthstone?
Can't pinpoint the exact date but sometime during the open beta.

What do you enjoy most about THL?
Killing Silentstorm's hopes and dreams every time we queue into him on ladder. Honestly though, it's the community. I love all of the cast of characters THL has to offer.

Favorite THL person not on your team?
Ah it's definitely Anamor. Everyone loves Tim from Tim's Team.

Favorite band/song/music to jam to while playing Hearthstone?
Everything. But I have heard Sarah Mclachlan.

If you weren’t on your current team, what team would you enjoy playing for?
Only teams for me are the Bad Hombres and TR5.

What do you do outside of Hearthstone?
Nazi Zombies with my brother. Big fan of watching football on Sundays. Heroes of the Storm. World of Warcraft. Movies. All of the same usual suspects.


SmokedSalmon - Current 3 seed

What’s your THL history?
First I started on the Dream Team. Best captain I ever had. I’m lucky to have had him. Then I was on entropy which I would later captain. Now I’m on the hombres. I think there was another team before then but honestly can’t remember.

How did you find THL?
Until I joined THL, I did most of my competitive hearthstone research on The Inn: Hearthstone group. I saw a post from recruiting players for a competitive hearthstone league. It seemed like a great way to get into competitive HS at the time so I joined. I regret that decision now.

How long have you been playing Hearthstone?
Casually, around Naxx but competitively, a couple years I think.

What do you enjoy most about THL?
Kidding around with the community. Also Mainge Jokes.

Favorite THL person not on your team?
Arcturus.

Favorite band/song/music to jam to while playing Hearthstone?
Every THL match I’ve played I’ve either listened to girl pop (little mix, Ariana Grande), Whitney Houston (RIP), or just watched an episode of Scrubs while I played.

If you weren’t on your current team, what team would you enjoy playing for?
Obviously, TR5 (RIP).

What do you do outside of Hearthstone?
Nothing really except cook, watch scrubs, sub to female twitch streamers, and take singing lessons (shout out to Dlineman).


RogueJT - Current 4 seed

What’s your THL history?
First season I was a part of TR5 and carried us to a championship :^)

How did you find THL?
Unsure of how he did it, Mainge managed to pull me from a HotS twitch chat.

How long have you been playing Hearthstone?
Couldn't say exactly but somewhere around launch.

What do you enjoy most about THL?
Kickin' it with mah bois YA FEEL ME.

Favorite THL person not on your team?
AnamorCool from Tim's Team who might be a member of Swagoi.

Favorite band/song/music to jam to while playing Hearthstone?
Everything usually, just put a playlist on shuffle.

If you weren’t on your current team, what team would you enjoy playing for?
Only TR5.

What do you do outside of Hearthstone?
Normally just WoW or HotS.


Captanmurdoc - Current 5 seed, Captain

What’s your THL history?
I joined back in season beta as a founding member of Team Rank 5. I played with them for 2 seasons or so before stepping down to take a break from hearthstone and was mostly just hanging out in discord and other games with the TR5 crew.  I would occasionally be a practice partner or sub over the next few seasons but my role on the team mostly turned into me suggesting to add things like malygos to all their decks and calling them cucks when they didn't. I was a part of Team Rank 5 behind the scenes until Brunson told me to captain a meme team.

How did you find THL?
Mainge told me he found a league and asked me to carry him.

How long have you been playing Hearthstone?
I've been playing since the first wave of beta invites went out but I didn't take it seriously at all until after the card reset for official release.

What do you enjoy most about THL?
The community. If it wasn't for the people in THL I would have stopped playing hearthstone all together a long time ago.

Favorite THL person not on your team?
It's gotta be Tim from Tim's team.  He's a total dream boat. Also, he helped me make one of my meme decks better in preparation for playing against his own team,  you can't buy friends like that.

Favorite band/song/music to jam to while playing Hearthstone?
I listen to a bit of everything while playing. Most of my playlist is alternative rock but when I did my first successful legend push I did it while listening to the 10 hour version of yuki yuki yuki.

If you weren’t on your current team, what team would you enjoy playing for?
I don't know of any other team that would be fine with me memeing every week but I suppose it could be cool to put on my try hard pants with Tim's team, all of the members I've interacted with seem cool.

What do you do outside of Hearthstone?
I play a lot of games with Mainge and a few other THL members such as WoW and HotS. I also tank for a top 700 world guild on WoW and play some FPS games such as Rainbow Six Siege with some real life friends. Out side of video games I basically just work, sleep and try to kill my liver.

What made you want to be a captain?
Brunson telling me to be captain.

How did you choose your (current) teammates?
I got a text from Mainge saying he, Parker and rogue were going to be hombres this season so I said sure. He didn't really ask though, just told me. Then salmon said "That sounds lit, I wanna be a  Hombre," and Brunson told him to take his spot.

How do you feel about your team’s prospects this season?
If this were judged on style points and meme quality we would win 100% of the time. Since it’s based on wins though it's a different story. I feel we will do better than most people expect since we are 4 good players and Mainge just playing sub standard decks but I'm not picking out a spot for the championship trophy just yet.
