Welcome to the first of what is hopefully many on a new THL blog series. Hosted by Detrucci and Nightsmoke. This series is called "What Would You Do?". The Rules:
This is a series that will come around every Tuesday and use different scenarios of our two beloved streams including "Team Rank Fridays" and our main event special "Salty Saturdays." But because this is the first edition, I will be using matches across the first 3 weeks of Season 1:Inception and I will pose the question...What would you do if it was your turn next? If you wish to play and have an answer, comment on our facebook page and see if others agree or disagree. Scenario 1 Gideoneko (Xnergy) vs HertzDonut (Archon Storm) Our First scenario comes straight from last weekends Salty Saturday opening headliner between 4th Seeders Gideoneko(Xnergy) vs HertzDonut(Archon Storm) We will be playing the role of Gideoneko In this photo, we are 2-0 down using Handlock and up against the fast board swinging Mech Mage and its turn 6. We are sitting on 17 health total. We do have a Mountain Giant on the board so we have that going for us. But the Annoy o Tron stands between us and some real momentum. But luckily for us there is just so many options to choose from in this next turn. But which play would turn everything upside down and and help Gideoneko come out with the win. Now it's in your hands to decide the fate of this game. Here are some things to consider:
Scenario 2 Captain Murdoc (Team Rank 5) vs Hambowen (Pure Strategy) This match up comes all the way from Week 1, in what is a very explosive opening match up between Hunter and Aggro Druid. Here we play the role of Captain Murdoc These 2 aggro decks went flying in from the beginning and on the turn before, we threw out our very own beloved Fel Reever onto the battlefield in order to end this game as soon as possible. The answer from our opponent was a secret played by the Hunter. This next turn will determine many things and could possibly set us up for a 2 turn win...BUT Here are a some of things to consider:
Scenario 3 DeerJason (Soupreme) vs Dlineman (Archon Storm The Final scenario we have a very control oriented match up We are building our hand for a freeze mage combo finish and we even have an Emperor Thaurissan that has given us a huge discount. But our opponent controls the current board and also has out a Void Caller, which is known to be troublesome for us freeze mages. But we do have ALOT of answers in our hand. and could possibly come out of this in an advantage if we play our cards right. Here are some things to consider:
And there you have it, 3 scenarios from 3 completely different POV's Please Let us know your answers and leave your comments and discussions on our facebook group page. The actual plays for these scenarios will be revealed very soon.
24 Hours have passed and now its time to reveal what actually happened! Click on the links to direct you to the exact situation and see what happened by the player himself. Gideoneko vs Hertz Donut SCENARIO 1 WHAT REALLY HAPPENED This is my favourite scenario this week and this is exactly why I feel this series will be an invaluable education on game mechanics. So BoomBoomHall came out with an interesting play with using Siphon Soul on the Loatheb. Slimsch's what would you do answer could probably changed this match up alot. But Gideoneko went with the play most of you guys went with. Making the most of the 6 mana available. He plays the Twilight Drake into Sunfury Protector between the 2 big minons. This turn cements his board and win comes shortly after. This is the perfect example of using your mana curve to secure the biggest advantage. CaptainMurdoc vs Hambowen SCENARIO 2 WHAT REALLY HAPPENED We got some very interesting answers on this scenario and with so many options available. The actual play is completely different. In an amazing turn of events, what could have set up the win in 2 turns. CaptainMurdoc quickly plays the Knife Juggler without thinking twice and then the Druid of the Saber into charge mode. The charge minion goes straight for the face. This triggers the secret and it turns out to be explosive trap, killing the new charge minion and the knife juggler. The Fel Reever lives but the hunter goes on to take charge of the game and Captain Murdoc actually ends up throwing away the game from that very moment. This is exactly why it is important to take the time to analyze all available plays and that hearthstone is a game where 1 bad play will lose you the entire match. DeerJason vs Dlineman SCENARIO 3 WHAT REALLY HAPPENED So this one was a tough scenario no matter what was played. DeerJason decided the explosive sheep was worth throwing onto the board along with the mad scientist and the ice block secret. This gave him some solid damage nullification next turn but ultimately Dlineman's hand was just so strong that this was one tough scenario. We will be back next Tuesday with scenarios from the Week 4 match ups.
