Hello THL! It's almost expansion launch time, and to tide you by in the days coming up to the Witchwood (hype), we have something very special for you: our homeboy Sage has interviewed each and every one of our Sylvanas League Season 5 Champions, Booty Sweat, with a different one coming up each day and the final one you on launch day! Up first, we have Booty Sweat's 5 Seed: TheAnarchist! -rebobson Sage: Congrats on winning the Sylvanas League Season 5 Championship! I know you were a part of THL before I joined, and despite this and your many Tavern Talk appearances, I still don't know much about you. Would you tell us a little bit about yourself to start? TheAnarchist: Sure. My name is Chase. I am unfortunately from Kentucky haha, lived here all my life. I'm 26, been married for almost 5 years (in August anyways). As to my THL history, I joined the league through Slimsch in season 3 after his 5 seed dropped out at the last minute and I've been here since. Outside of Hearthstone, I play a lot of WoW, HotS and I have recently discovered League of Legends. Sage: So you got introduced to THL by the PR King, himself, to finalize a roster on short notice? I hope the season went well for you guys back then, poor Slimsch hasn't been able to catch a break lately. Back to Booty Sweat, you guys had a spectacular season. Is there anything that stands out to you as a large contributor to the team's success? TheAnarchist: I would say what contributed most to our success was our team environment. All these guys are super fun and laid back and just love to have a great time. There was never any pressure from teammates to win and a ton of encouragement. Everyone was always supporting each other which was great. Anytime someone needed help, we would just chime in and plan out our lineups. Also huge props to Ericokey for getting this lineup put together. He always manages to get a really solid group of guys together and I'm lucky to be a part of it. Sage: Ericokey indeed deserves some very huge props for the greatness he cultivates. Could you elaborate a little on the team environment and atmosphere? Walk me through what it's like during a typical week on team Booty Sweat. TheAnarchist: Most weeks were honestly pretty chill and relaxed. Occasional lineup prep but other than that just chit chat and some post match talk. We were really lucky to have a really strong start to the season so we didn't have to stress too much for playoffs. Aside from that one week where I really cut submission deadline close, everything else stayed pretty consistent. Lots of BOOTY SWEPT in our discord after a sweep. Sage: Starting week 1 against us TRYHARDS, I'm sure you guys weren't expecting to start the season against memes. I imagine there was a lot of "BOOTY SWEPT" going on in your discord that week. When it came to your choice in classes, did you like the meta this past season? What decks did you prefer to run in your lineups? TheAnarchist: I remember TheTownDrunk had some sick memes ready to go. I think this meta was okay. Warlock felt a little OP at times but that's why you get a ban. If you look back at my deck selection, you'll notice I brought a lot of Druid and Mage. I had a Jade Druid list with double Branching Paths and double Feral Rage. The flexibility of either the armor or the surprise burst won me a lot of games. I also was able to play Big Spell Mage a lot this season. I may have played against one other Big Spell Mage this season but from what I could tell, it was mostly all Secret. Having the option to either go Secret or Big Spell was great. It really surprised me as to how well suited Mage was this meta with its flexibility. Sage: As an avid lover of all things Mage, I agree 100%. I liked Big Spell, but the strength of Secret for murdering Warlocks was too much to pass up. I did notice quite a few Druid picks from you, Jade Druid punished Secret really hard. Moving on, this past season in THL has seen a lot of wholesome sportsmanship happening in the THL discord. If you could meet anyone from THL for a beer (or other preferred beverage), who would it be? TheAnarchist: This past month I was lucky enough to go down to Florida and meet a bunch of my THL friends. So at this point, I think I would wanna meet Tim from Tim's Team. Sage: That's awesome! Wish I could've been there. Do you have any plans yet for next season? TheAnarchist: We are still figuring out next season plans right now. Sage: As with any successful team, a new season always means having to get some new faces on the roster. Hope you guys find someone great to uphold the legacy. What was a particularly awesome moment from a match or even a teammate's match at any point during the season that feels most memorable for you? TheAnarchist: Well beating Ozmanaut after the Woo incident felt pretty good. But having the Finals come down to my match and being able to finish it up and claim the Championship has to be the best moment. I was pretty nervous for my team and I didn't want to let them down. So being able to seal it up felt awesome. Sage: Oh I can imagine so! What is "the Woo incident"? TheAnarchist: I recounted it on a Tavern Talk last season. But The Dog House playoff game came down to me and he pulled out a great 5 game series and messaged me "Wooooooo" after he won. Was a little salty at the time but all in all it was a good series and he is a super cool dude. But getting my revenge this season was nice. It was the last week of the season too and he was going for a perfect record. I kinda ruined it. Sage: That's a juicy revenge storyline if I've ever seen one. One man's Woo is another man's Wound. He deserved to get shut down by none other than you. Wrapping up, anything you'd like to say to the league or your teammates? TheAnarchist: To the league, keep grinding and keep being awesome. To my teammates, thanks for bringing me in and letting me be a part of the squad. And lastly, keep drinking that BOOTY SWEAT! Sage: *emoji representation of Booty Sweat* TheAnarchist: *emoji representation of Booty Sweat* Sage: Thanks for your time tonight, Chase. Congrats once again on the win, and good luck next season! TheAnarchist: Thanks for having me and thanks a ton for putting this together! -Sage & TheAnarchist
