MVP
Winner: Wolfmack
Runner up: FlyestLai
Big Game Hunter
Winner: Gemini
Runner up: Asuna
Gemini beat Drewman by 200 fuckin points because of the nature of sub rules - it was a perm sub and seeds are not re-sorted the first week that happens, so Gemini was a huge underdog and won the match anyway. Asuna beat BoomBoomHall by 161 points in week 1, which is also pretty crazy considering that BoomBoomHall was a contender for comeback player and had a pretty solid season.
Best New Team
Winner: Dirty Mike and the Boys
Runner up: Prep Coin Concede
DMB had the love of the league with the best name ever this season and proved that they belonged by taking an entirely new team to the finals! Who does that?
PCC was a bunch of veterans that also made it to the playoffs - Chiggmo’s first stint at captaining proved to be successful by any metric.
Top Captain
Winner: Sage
Runner up: HectorHowl
Sage is the only back to back championship captain in THL history. Not only that, but it was certainly not with the same roster - he rebuilt more than half of his original championship team during the course of the season, had multiple midseason dropouts, and had a last minute sub in the fuckin finals and still crushed it. Unreal.
Hector took the same roster that shit the bed last season and did way better this time. These guys are always questing or playing HotS together - while it’s a dagger straight to the Leeroy that they won’t be playing in THL next season, it has to be said about the culture and positivity that they’ve cultivated internally. Even Imbolc is happy there.
Rookie of the Season
Winner: FlyestLai
Runner up: none
Not even close. Most of our rookies hovered around the 50% mark but FlyestLai had an insane first season and is currently at 575 PR. What a stud.
Comeback Player
Winner: HectorHowl
Runner up: JesusC
Both of these players were Crazed Alchemist targets - they flipped their abysmal records from last season (2-7 for Hector and 2-6 for Jesus) and pushed back to become competitive again. Whatever happened in S5 to keep them down has certainly been resolved - Hector left the board and started dominating league play as opposed to dominating meeting minutes while Jesus proved that he is the best TR5 system player in history.
RolePlayer
Winner: Arthur Rhodes
Runner up: Dunamis
Good ol’ NaCl was also the only player with a positive winrate with all 9 classes! Dunamis was 4-5, but one of those was a DQ so it’s really 4-4 right? Close enough.
Most Improved
Winner: Wolfmack
Runner up: Krakshot
Would you believe that both players had only 5 wins last season? Krakshot actually had a 5-2 record last season, btw - he missed a couple of weeks and got subbed - but still, he improved to 8-1 just like Wolfmack. Very impressive improvement from both players… and they didn’t suck last season either.
