Being a captain isn't a lot of work but it is a responsibility and requires commitment. A negligent or absent captain not only affects the captain's team, but the other teams in the league as well. A captain quitting mid-season is extremely disruptive to the league so we need to determine if you're up to the challenge.
The most basic aspect of being a captain is putting together a team and making sure each member is meeting the participation requirements.
The most important aspect of being a captain is building an engaged and cohesive team.
Participate in league development
As a captain, your team is your from season to season and you have full control over it. Part of the fun of being a captain is managing the roster. We have a system in place that rates players based on performance (PR, or Player Rating) and is used to match players of varying skill levels against similarly skilled players. Each team is capped in the total PR of its players to ensure that there is a healthy spread of player ability on each team.
The other great perk of being captain is that you're always guaranteed a spot on a team!
The most basic aspect of being a captain is putting together a team and making sure each member is meeting the participation requirements.
- Each player must submit class selection early in the week (currently Tuesday evening), contact their opponent for the week to schedule their match, and then play their match before the Sunday evening deadline
- Captains monitor their players to make sure this gets done, reminding them when necessary.
- If a player can’t play one week or becomes unresponsive, the captain is responsible for arranging a substitute player from the pool of free agents.
- Captains intervene and coordinate with each other when players have difficulty scheduling their matches.
The most important aspect of being a captain is building an engaged and cohesive team.
- Get the team talking to each other. The more interaction between members, the stronger the team.
- Arrange practices. Players can get to know each other, have fun, and get better all at the same time.
- Initiate strategy discussion email threads
- A good, engaged team will perform better, have better attendance, and stay together season to season.

- We want all players, but especially our captains, to be part of the growth and development of the league. We look for captains to provide feedback and suggestions about any problems or opportunity to improve.
- We have a private subreddit as a forum for captains to discuss league issues.
