Week 9 Ragnaros Player Power Rankings by Donde 1. Brewski 8-0 (24-6) – Thermic Whims
Previous ranking – 1 Current streak – 8 wins JetLaw was completely grounded this week as Tom Brady, I mean Brewski sent him packing with another sweep. This is in no way an indictment of JetLaw's ability as we all are but mere mortals trying to simply get our 3-2's every week. Brewski is just operating on a different level right now. You never want to jinx a pitcher when he's working on a no-hitter but all that stands between Brewski and a perfect regular season now is Markshire. 2. Bonja 7-1 (22-13) – Team Mox Previous ranking – 3 Current streak – 1 win Bonja bounced back nicely from his first loss of the season to dispatch Stephieee 3-1. With nothing but pride on the line for Team Mox in week 9, Bonja will ascend back into the top seed to take on Tues who has had a decent season of his own. The prospect of playing spoiler against the currently fourth seeded team may be enough motivation. 3. Rebobson 6-1 (20-9) +1 DQ Win – Vote of No Confidence Previous ranking – 6 Current streak – 1 win Much like Bonja, Rebobson recovered from his first loss of the season with absolute authority in a sweep over Bunnyman1400. You'll note the addition of the DQ win above which was a hot button topic last week. Rebobson will take aim at reaching 2nd in the rankings next week as, let's all be honest here, the top spot is pretty much out of reach. RidiculousHat will be the challenger a week after securing a DQ win of his own. 4. FollowDurden 7-1 (22-10) – Collective Mayhem Previous ranking – 8 Current streak – 7 wins FollowDurden makes it 7 wins in a row with a 360 windmill slam on Team Next Level's Altenberg. Fun fact: Altenberg once convinced me to not ban Druid and then I got swept by it. I still love you dude but back to FollowDurden. A four ranking jump this week is no joke as a lot of the top players won but it's hard to ignore the results. He takes a 69% game win rate into the week 9 tilt with fellow stud 4 seed Rizen. 5. Kd1215 7-1 (23-15) - :hot_pepper: Previous ranking – 4 Current streak – 4 wins Dropping a rank after a win is tough but that's less about what kd1215 is doing and more about the streak that FollowDurden is on. He welcomed Gramatron to the league with a 3-1 win in :hot_pepper:'s drubbing of the Skrimps. Although his team is in great shape to make the playoffs, it is far from guaranteed and kd1215 will try to do his part and close out the season with a win against Craeon from Noob Central. 6. Nate 6-1 (18-12) – Texas Stubbies Previous ranking – 10 Current streak – 5 wins I'm a simple man. I see a sweep, you move up in the rankings (most likely). In this case, over the very capable Tues, it definitely warrants the 4 spot jump. I don't think the Stubbies are mathematically eliminated and in fairness I did not run the scenario so it is possible that they are. Either way, a playoff berth is a longshot at best and he will take on egman this week in his return from a one week hiatus. 7. Kols 6-1 (20-12) – Saronite Pain Gang Previous ranking – N/A Current streak – 2 wins Full disclosure: Kols and I have been friends for about 23 years which is longer than some of you young whippersnappers have even been alive. You should now know that it pains me to admit he is temporarily better than me at anything. That being said, Kols has bounced back from his first loss of the season with an impressive pair of consecutive wins. He handled his business against Duangerous and now will look to finish the regular season on a high note against Rkeysar. 8. Ironfire 6-2 (22-13) - :hot_pepper: Previous ranking – 9 Current streak – 1 win Ironfire is back on the horse after back to back losing weeks. Like his teammate kd1215, he welcomed TwoStarMako to the league with a 3-1 win. This may have been the biggest 1 seed disparity in a match this season. Khell dipped his feet into the winning end of the Ragnaros pool last week vs AndyRogers and it certainly isn't going to get easier for him if he wants to make it two in a row. 9. Jaxox 6-1 (18-8) +1 DQ Win – Thermic Whims Previous ranking – N/A Current streak – 6 wins Jaxox basically hasn't lost since Zubaz pants were cool. Wait, what's that? They were never cool? That can't possibly be true. Anyway, he continues to roast every 5 seed that comes his way. TheChronic was his latest victim in a dominant 3-0 sweep. Up this week is a player who has been flirting with finding his way on to these rankings himself in Davpetm. 10. Brasky 6-2 (20-15) – Vote of No Confidence Previous ranking – N/A Current streak – 5 wins I'm a fan of coincidental synergy and since we kicked off the top 10 with Brewski, we will finish with Brasky who's name basically sounds like if your jaw was wired shut and you tried to say “Brewski”. Go ahead and try it, I'll wait. Fun right? Totally not Fake Brewski racked up his 5th straight win for the red division leaders over Force of Will who has faltered in recent weeks but is having a fantastic season in his own right. Direstbear remains as the sole remaining opponent on the regular season calendar. I will remember you (players that dropped from last week's top 10): IrvinG 5-1 (17-6) – Defias Brotherhood Previous ranking – 2 A DQ loss really hurts the squad. TheTownDrunk 6-2 (22-14) - BRF Previous ranking – 5 A 3-2 loss is hardly cause for concern, just a lot of players winning right around his rank causing the fall. Aeo 6-2 (21-15) – Vote of No Confidence Previous ranking – 7 A 1-3 loss last week will drop him just out of reach. Knockin' on heaven's door (other honorable mentions): C0mp 6-2 (22-11) – Defias Brotherhood Rizen 6-2 (21-12) – Thermic Whims
