Another season has passed, more league members have become eligible for induction, and recognition of excellence is in order: this is the third induction class for Ragnaros League.
The following process and criteria was used to identify HoF Inductees:
To be considered eligible, one must have participated for at least 5 seasons in Ragnaros League as either a player, a captain, or a consistent contributor to League operations or content.
A selection committee of 7 League members was formed, and the community as a whole submitted nominations to be considered. Guidelines for selection include but are not limited to:
Brewski, King of Conquest, Slayer of Scrubs, Sultan of Sweeps, Master of Matchups. Since season 5, when we were both just rookies looking to have fun and win our matches, I've known Brewski to be the best player in the league. There are so few players that can compete with him that in my mind I see him as the only 0 seed player in THL. It is always impressive to see him thoroughly bully 1 seeds week after week. Brewski is truly an inspiration to me, and I have dozens of memes I've made about him to attest to this. Despite having literally the best win rate in the league at the time of his induction (71.7%!!!), Brewski remains humble, convinced there is no way he's actually the best. While he would have certainly been inducted on his winrate alone, it would be disrespectful of me to not mention how great of a teammate he is. He takes time out of every week to help his comrades prep for their matches, and practice matchups if needed. His insight on ban strategies is some of the most valuable advice I've ever received, reliably refining my own skills just in his explanations of why I'd ban X then play Y first and save Z for last. Lastly, you can't discount his sense of humor. One of the most memorable moments in HSA history was during the season 6 semi finals versus Team Golden Wisp. Brewski played his match against theflyestlai then tells us in discord:
At this point in time, Brew is always first to play his match and consistently starts us out in the lead every week. Seeing that he got not only beaten but SWEPT?! I started writing up a pep talk to keep everyone's heads in the game hoping that they wouldn't be too disheartened by how the week started. Before even finishing my little speech, I absently checked the scoreboard only to see not an 0-3 for Brewski, but a 3-0. You make every season so much more memorable when you're on the team, Brewski. Won't you come play for me again?
This is a man who needs no introduction because he’s either the reason you joined THL or he’s already slid into your DMs to recruit you for SOMETHING. Behind the lighthearted discord activity and THL’s freshest memes is a face and name that should strike terror in your heart if you ever had the displeasure of playing against his team. Early legends foretell of a beast whose beard will woo you and whose :pinkGuyDance: will shriek of glorious victory. Boasting a score of 77-43 (64.27%) and two Ragnaros League Championships in his first two seasons, Sage was destined for the Hall of Fame out of the gate. As it stands, Sage developed two of the top three lifetime “win rate %” players (with at least three seasons played) and has assembled some of the best teams that THL has ever seen. Others took notice, and if you traced the captainship tendencies today in Season 10, you’d get Ancestry results that lead right back to senpai Sage. With all that said, despite outstanding competitive results, you’ll be hard pressed to find someone more genuine and humble; truly his success is the fruit of his passion and empathy, two things that I am grateful to have experienced first hand and that THL is enshrining in his Hall of Fame induction.
There were no Contributors inducted for this class.
The THL Hall of Fame has been proud to recognize excellence in player and captain performance, along with administrative and content contribution. Equally as admirable, the committee was inspired by some nominations strictly on excellence in character, and has decided to introduce the Diamond Award. This award, inspired by the original name of our first honoree, can be earned by a community member who has involved themselves with the league for a minimum of five seasons, and meets the following description:
A community member who shows unflinching grace despite any kind of adversity, who prioritizes the values of THL and the spirit of friendly competition over their own results, and who exemplifies the culture of sportsmanship through their positive interactions with other community members.
The committee is proud to have Hall of Fame inductee Jaxox introduce to you our first Diamond Award winner:
Xnergy has been a part of this league since the pre-numeric days, and DexterHS (formerly known as DiAmonD6610), has worked his way up the rungs. We have seen them down, and runners up since he took over, but one thing that has never changed has been his passion for leading his team and trying to improve.
In the community he is always supportive, reaching out to old and new players alike to be as helpful as he can. He has spent time as a division manager in addition to leading the Xnergy boys, and you will always get a "Happy Birthday Bro" if you are Facebook friends with him.
Much like myself Dexter has battled through the 5 spot for a bit, but unlike me, he continues to improve and contribute as a captain and player.
Few embody what it means to be a member of the THL community better than Dexter. Few approach this league, and this game, with the optimism and passion he does. This league is better because place because of Dexter, which is why it is my honor to announce his induction into the THL Hall of Fame as our first official Diamond Award winner.
