THL’s 30 for 30 series represents a fun opportunity for us to compare players across history. Typically, we’re focused on a single season or lifetime, but we rarely return to specific seasons to measure player success. Fortunately, PAR now allows us to look back on individual seasons and rank them in ways that we were never able to before. For this piece, all seasons are included. Every season of Wild has been played under a best-of-5 format. Season Alpha featured teams of 3 but points held the same weight for individual performances that season. As was the case last time, we’ll also be including playoff matches, as lifetime PAR includes all matches someone plays in a season. Honorable Mentions: Hyperin, Season 7: 12.432 PAR Battletagger, Season 2: 10-2 (32-14), 12.448 PAR Nejiboston, Season 2: 8-3 (30-25), 12.453 PAR MartyB, Season 3: 11-2 (34-19), 12.701 PAR OTZaixia, Season 5: 10-2 (32-16), 12.741 PAR Our Honorable Mentions start things strong with multiple championship-winning performances. One thing readers will notice is the number of strong performances in specific seasons. These seasons featured highly competitive top seeds where several players showcased MVP-level records. Several listed also sneak in due to dominating lower seeds while their teammates held down the 1 seed. Battletagger and Nejiboston in Season 2 are both beneficiaries of this. 10: Corbett, Season 5 Match Record: 10-2 Game Record: 32-15 PAR: 13.189 Corbett has had his fair share of strong performances, but Season 5 was one for the record books. A core member of F2L: Viridian, Corbett was one of the main reasons the team reached the finals that season. 9: Ultimate, Season 1 Match Record: 9-2 Game Record: 31-14 PAR: 13.211 Ultimate was a key cog for F2L: Viridian’s first Wild Championship. The highlight of their season came against jrhsk8 in the semifinals. Under the threat of elimination and faced with a series of heavy unfavorables, Ultimate was able to secure a 3-1 match win to propel F2L: Viridian to the finals. That win kicked off the team’s 11 season finals streak, a record that will likely never be broken in THL’s history. 8: Memnarch, Season 5 Match Record: 10-1 Game Record: 29-13 PAR: 13.573 Before Memnarch joined the ranks of F2L: Viridian, he played with the unofficial Tempo Storm Wild Meta Snapshot team Hair Club. The team missed playoffs in Season 5, but Memnarch’s historic performance was a highlight in an otherwise forgettable season for the club. 7: RidiculousHat, Season Alpha Match Record: 9-1 Game Record: 29-17 PAR: 13.874 Hat probably didn’t expect to be on any of these historic power rankings, but he ironically makes the list in the format he probably plays the least. Season Alpha featured only 3 players per team, making Hat a key performer in Hattleship’s championship season. 6: Tigereye, Season 5 Match Record: 9-2 Game Record: 30-20 PAR: 13.888 Tigereye might not have the impressive game record that other players on this list have, but his match record and season schedule will give anyone else a run for their money. The Darkglare aficionado took his team to the finals with his clutch performance. The Rumbletusk Shakers would then get their first championship win over F2L: Viridian that season. 5: Battletagger, Season 3 Match Record: 10-3 Game Record: 35-20 PAR: 14.150 Battletagger wasn’t going to fall to the narrative that their impressive Season 2 performance was a result of facing easier opponents in the 2 seed. They held their own in the top seed all season long. Tagger only managed a few seasons of THL before stepping away, but their performances were some of the most dominating in Wild. If they had stuck around longer and gotten more attention, then they probably would’ve been in the Hall of Fame already with seasons like these. 4: Seth (ForChrist), Season 8 Match Record: 10-0 Game Record: 30-14 PAR: 17.153 Our first undefeated performance of these power rankings comes from Seth. The Sourdough Shakers had a difficult path to the finals that season, missing the coveted playoff bye and requiring an extra match to reach the final round. The team wasn’t able to win it all that season, but the undefeated season performance is an achievement that very few in Wild have been able to achieve in the history of the series. 3: GetMeowth, Season 3 Match Record: 12-1 Game Record: 37-19 PAR: 17.721 GetMeowth will tell most THLers that he was the worst player on F2L: Viridian, but the famous Wild Hearthstone Streamer has a plethora of strong seasons under his belt. His best came during Season 3, where he took the reins and led F2L: Viridian from the top seed. Under his leadership, the team was able to secure a championship over the rival team Everyone’s a Winner. 2: jjjjjj, Season 2 Match Record: 11-0 Game Record: 33-17 PAR: 18.229 jjjjjj’s time in THL was cut short due to life responsibilities, but their season 2 performance will always stand the test of time. They forced the Board to change the rules for the MVP award because of their regular season performance and followed it with a championship-worthy playoff run. It was one of the most dominant runs in all of THL history, and still manages to be mentioned in conversations within certain circles to this day. 1: Corbett, Season 4
Match Record: 12-0 Game Record: 36-16 PAR: 19.808 Hi Corb. You did it. You beat Wild. Corb was doing his best Wayne Gretzky impression with this one. His undefeated season performance is arguably the best one in all of THL’s history. No other player has ever managed a PAR as high as Corbett in a single season. The days of 12-week seasons are also long past, making achieving such a feat in the current era nearly impossible. Thanks to Corbett’s performance, F2L: Viridian was able to secure their second championship win in a row that season. The team solidified its place in THL history as the premier Wild dynasty team after winning it all for the third time in Wild’s 5 season history.
